JAMS Adds PowerGUI Integration to its Arsenal |
 The latest release of JAMS 5.1 includes support for PowerGUI, an extensible administrative console for administering and managing Windows systems. The JAMS PowerPack utilizes many of the cmdlets from the JAMS PowerShell Snap-in to make it even easier to perform common PowerShell actions with JAMS. The PowerPack prompts users for parameters that would otherwise need to be specified at the PowerShell command line.
PowerGUI's graphical interface makes it easier to perform actions on specific JAMS objects. The PowerPack allows for management of the current schedule, Queues, Triggers, Variables, and Named Times. The file transfer cmdlets are also supported by the PowerPack and will prompt for the necessary parameters. Another benefit is that the PowerPack will only prompt for common parameters such as "Server" once while PowerShell requires the information to be entered each time the command is executed.

 Did you know that JAMS now includes a full suite of file transfer PowerShell cmdlets? JAMS supports FTP, FTP/SSL and Secure FTP and, the cmdlets are truly built for PowerShell, they aren't just old command line apps that have been converted to PowerShell. For example, the Get-JFSChildItem works just like Get-ChildItem but it gets the collection of items from a remote file server. You can push them down the PowerShell pipeline and decide how you want to handle each item.
The Get-JAMSCredential cmdlet can be used to securely retrieve credentials from the JAMS password vault. This lets you automate file transfers without exposing your credentials and with no human interaction. And, you can use Get-JAMSCredential with any PowerShell cmdlet that takes a PSCredential!

Once downloaded, just install the JAMS Administrative Client and you will be off to the races! |
