MVP Unveils New Website, New Offices, and New Capabilities

MVP Systems Software, Inc., a leader in enterprise batch job scheduling and workload automation software, announced that its new website is now live.  The new site provides more detailed information on JAMS, additional methods for contacting JAMS support, a new blog as well as detailed analysis of the enterprise job scheduling market.

As an example of the additional information being made available at www.JAMSScheduler.com, new pages have been created for Windows Workflow support as well as the capabilities of JAMS on both Linux and UNIX platforms.  New VMware capabilities in JAMS have also been posted on the site to better show customers how to leverage JAMS in virtualized environments.

MVP has also introduced new Chat Live support on the site.  From 9AM to 5PM EST, customers will be able to access instant chat for both sales and technical support.  MVP's blog will focus on IT Operations and the market for systems management software.  Entries will be posted by various MVP Systems employees - from sales and marketing to technical support and engineering.

In addition to the new website, MVP Systems Software announced the opening of a new sales office in New York.  The office officially opened on June 7th and will be the home to a number of sales and support personnel once renovations are complete.

Agent vs Agentless Scheduling

Many customers ask about the benefits (or pitfall) of running Cron jobs and UNIX scripts with or without JAMS Agents installed on the target servers. JAMS has the ability to execute UNIX scripts through the JAMS AgentX or agent-less through pure SSH connections.  There are four basic advantages to using the JAMS AgentX.

» Using a JAMS AgentX, the job can contain a script rather than a series of commands. (if statements, while loops, etc.) The SSH execution method isn't able to run a job as though it were a script; it runs it line by line as if one were typing it into the command line. JAMS AgentX runs jobs as shell scripts, providing the feedback that most people expect.

» If you want to leverage the File-based Trigger mechanism, you will require the JAMS AgentX.

» Better exception capturing of job processes are provided by the JAMS AgentX.

» Reconnections.  With SSH, if something fails which causes the JAMS server to disconnect, the job fails.  With the JAMS AgentX, the job continues and the JAMS Scheduler reconnects as if nothing ever happened.

Convert Cron Jobs into JAMS Jobs

You've seen the Windows Task Scheduler and SQL Agent conversion tools within JAMS, but did you know JAMS can also convert your CRON jobs from UNIX installations?  This gives you an easy method of migrating all your existing UNIX jobs from various UNIX flavors into JAMS for a single point of management.  Click here for more info...
