Fred Teichert Named ALF's Exemplary Leader 2010; Dinner set for April 28
|
|
The ALF Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of Fred Teichert, Executive Director of the Teichert Foundation and a member of ALF Class III, as ALF's Exemplary Leader for 2010.
Fred will be honored at ALF's annual dinner, slated for Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento.
Since long before he proposed forming Teichert Foundation in 1990, Fred has been a driving force for community improvement. When his three daughters were little, his philosophy was that if everyone does what they see to do, as a community we should be able to provide the resources that make a rich setting for the growth and development of healthy happy children. A major highlight of his service to the region's children thus far is Fred's leadership in founding of the Boys and Girls Club of Sacramento: this city went from being the only capital in the country not to have a Boys and Girls Club, to having two.
More information about ALF's Exemplary Leader Award Dinner will follow soon. Sponsorship opportunities are available -- call the ALF office at (916) 920-5669 for more info on how you can get involved.

Volunteers Welcome: Fellowship and Community Leadership Committees to get working in January
The Fellowship Committee will meet Tuesday, January 5th, 9:00-10:30 am at the ALF office in the Sierra Health Foundation Building. Chaired by Class XII's Julia Burrows, the ALF MVC Fellowship Committee is responsible for providing Fellowship activities that include opportunities for dialogue and ways for Fellows to connect around shared interests and to deepen individual class and cross-class connections.
The Community Leadership Committee is chaired by Class VIII's Scott Syphax and will meet every third Tuesday at the ALF office, beginning January 19, 10 am-noon. The committee is responsible for convening community leaders, incubating initiatives, developing a funding strategy to support these activities, counseling Fellows about community engagement strategies, and matching leaders to community needs to support the common good.
For more information or to volunteer to serve on either of these committees, please call (916-920-5669) or email the ALF office.

New ALF Web Site Will Connect Fellows Nationally |
|
Connect to Sr. Fellows around the US or opt-out of this feature
Part of the enhanced functionality of our upcoming NEW Website will be the ability for Senior Fellows across chapters to access basic contact information (name, title, organization, preferred email address and primary city and state). We are excited about this opportunity to expand the ALF-MV network to the 2,644 Senior Fellows throughout the United States.
We need to know if you would like to "OPT OUT," meaning Senior Fellows from other chapters WOULD NOT have access to your basic contact information. ALF-MV Senior Fellows would continue to have access to your information, regardless.
Our new website launch is scheduled for this winter, but database work is happening now in preparation. If you would like to OPT OUT of this opportunity to network with ALF Senior Fellows in other chapters, please let us know by Monday, January 4, 2010.
Please send your OPT OUT responses to scot@alf-mvc.org or call the ALF office at (916) 920-5669.
