ALF's Auction
ALF's annual auction is fast approaching and we are looking for great items to help raise funds for scholarships to the ALF program.

You can donate online, or email Scot in the ALF office

Thanks in advance for your support!

Greetings!

We've got a full calendar for the next six weeks... PLENTY of opportunity to connect to other ALF members!

Take a look at what's going on...

Remember the 24 Hour Rule?

phoneExpectation: Accept ALFers' calls or return within 24 hours

One of the things that makes ALF 'work' is the 24 hour telephone rule. You may recall the agreement at Orientation that when an ALFer calls you should either take the call when it comes in, or return it within 24 hours. If you are away, ask your assistant to indicate that, and return the call as soon as you are able.

When the 24 Hour Rule is employed by our members it cuts through endless days of phone tag and expedites our ability to get things done. It is the basis of much of the success of ALF collaborations that have solved problems around the region.

Even with the best of intentions it is easy to slip into old patterns, but if we refresh this rule we will be able to keep the wheels turning, the connections happening, and our region improving. So...
  • When you call an ALFer, identify yourself as a Fellow;
  • When an ALFer calls - take the call;
  • If you can't take the call, return it as soon as possible, or within 24 hours.

MARCH 26! Pat Fong Kushida Honored as Exemplary Leader

Pat Fong Kushida
AT&T presents ALF's annual dinner celebrating the Sac Asian Chamber CEO and Class IV member

Thursday
, March 26, 5:30-9:00 pm, $125  TICKETS

Many would agree that this is the biggest networking event of the year and besides that, it's fun with no long speeches or an abundance of programming.  Just talking with friends, enjoying a nice dinner, and honoring a truly exemplary leader in Pat!

AT&TTickets are $125 each, but our members' participation is the most important factor.  While this is ALF's main fundraiser for the year and we hope you are able to pay the full ticket price (half of which is tax-deductible), we offer reduced-price tickets to ALF members and one guest at $65 per person, which covers our costs to produce the event.

We don't want price to be a barrier to your being there, so we do have limited scholarships available to make sure all ALF members get to attend our organization's greatest event of the year - just contact us!

We're looking forward to seeing you there!

ALF's Auction Opens to Bidding 3/19

gavelGet a preview of items up for bid; PLUS there's still time to donate

Thursday, March 19 through Thursday, April 2  PREVIEW

Get ready to bid!  We've received many fabulous item donations, but we're looking for more.  You can preview about two-thirds of the items so far and get inspired about the type of items YOU can donate

All proceeds raised by the auction and dinner go to scholarships for ALF Fellows who wouldn't otherwise be able to participate in the Fellows program and network.  You probably gained a new perspective from someone in your class who fits this category - wouldn't you like to "pay it forward" for others to experience this diversity of opinion and make the ALF network that much stronger?

Event Follow-up: Pictures from Joint Dinner with Silicon Valley Fellows

SV Class XXJoint chapter event shows connections across distance

ALF-SV Class XX joined MV Sr. Fellows for a media panel and dinner on February 25th, with many remarking at the immediate connection the members of the two chapters had, even if separated by 100 miles or more.

Many thanks to David Hosley for moderating a panel of journalists that included Dan Walters of the Sacramento Bee, Judy Lin from the Associated Press, Edwin Garcia of the San Jose Mercury News and Araceli Martinez of La Opinion.

Check out Stephen Tse's photos for a look into the event and definitely make a mental note to join us next year!
