Greetings!

As we head toward Spring, the ALF calendar gets mighty full, offering you many opportunities to participate, whether for networking, continuing education, or entering into meaningful dialogue around a hot topic.  And there's always fun to be had as well!

Let's see what's going on in ALF...

Thinking Together: Proposition 8 Unraveled, Feb. 19

threadsA dialogue on Prop 8 issues that we are not likely to have elsewhere

Thursday, February 19, 5:30 - 7:30 pm, FREE  RSVP

The election is over, but the many threads of Proposition 8 continue to be unraveled.

The opinions surrounding this highly debated proposition remain polarized, with feelings and tensions still taught.  People on both sides seem clear and grounded in their own convictions on the issue, but struggle to understand the others'.

This is not a forum to change minds or defend sides.  This is an opportunity for inquiry with permission to ask the questions you've never been able to ask.

Join us as we explore ways of coming together for the good of all concerned.

NEW EVENT: "Social Cognition - Seeing the Gorilla in our Midst," March 11

gorilla in our midstWe see what we believe rather than vice versa

Wednesday, March 11, 5:30-7:30 pm, $25

"Innattentional blindness" happens when our attention is so fixed on something that we fail to notice whatever else is going on right in front of us. Did you attend the Sr. Fellows' Retreat in November and experience keynote speaker Bill Isaacs's showing of the Harvard research exercise with the basketball players and the gorilla?

Class IX's Bill Kennedy will continue exploring innattentional blindness by presenting this workshop on Mind Science and Social Cognition.

Bill will demonstrate how our own brain perceives, categorizes, stores, and recalls information.  Discover how these structures are created and how they can be changed.

Participate in this mind-bending workshop and you might not see things in quite the same way again.

Do You Know Leaders in
San Joaquin?

ALF's new San Joaquin Chapter seeking nominations for first Fellows class

ALF SJVDavid Hosley left KVIE last year to lead the Great Valley Center and one of his first endeavors was to create an ALF chapter for the San Joaquin Valley.

This fledgling chapter now needs nominees for the first group of "trailblazers," and if you work with leaders from that area (stretching from Lodi to Manteca) and feel they would make great ALF Fellows for this first class, they would like to hear from you!

Use their online nomination form and help them get the ball rolling!
