Congratulations to the Sammamish Review!
The Sammamish Review won the general excellence award in the Better Newspaper Contest sponsored by the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association Oct. 2.
The general excellence award is the comprehensive award presented each year to four newspapers from around the state. The Review competes among the 28 largest circulation community newspapers in Washington .
The Review was cited for tackling controversial issues, having great photography, clearly designed pages, interesting advertising and a vibrant opinion page.
Additionally, reporter J.B. Wogan won a second place award for sports feature writing. The Review's production staff of Breann Getty and Dona Mokin also won awards, along with Vickie Singsaas of the Review's advertising department.
The Review's sister publication, The Issaquah Press, won 20 awards for writing, photography and page design, and won a second place award for public service.
The Better Newspaper Contest has been held annually since 1929 and honors the best in community journalism from around the state.
