Drink Local Gold
Missouri wines have won several BEST of CLASS/GOLD medals at recent wine competitions around the country. Missourians should be thrilled and proud to know their local wines continue to win BIG.
At the 2010 Los Angeles International Wine Competition three BEST of CLASS honors went to Blumenhof Winery: 2008 Original Cyn, 2009 Seyval, and 2008 Chambourcin. Stone Hill Winery 2009 Vignoles also took home BEST of CLASS honors. GOLD medals went to St. James Winery 2008 Chambourcin, 2008 Cynthiana, 2008 Vignoles, and 2007 Chardonel. Stone Hill Winery 2006 Norton and 2009 Steinburg White earned GOLD medals. At the 2010 Critic's Challenge GOLD went to St. James Winery 2008 Chambourcin.
On the East coast at the 2010 International Eastern Wine Competition GOLD went to St. James Winery 2008 Vignoles while SILVER medals went to Blumenhof Winery 2008 Chambourcin, Missouri State University 2009 Chambourcin, Missouri State University Port, St. James Winery 2008 Cynthiana, Stone Hill Winery 2007 Chambourcin and Stone Hill Winery 2009 Traminette.

 | A Yankee Doodle Dandy Dessert | | Add a little red, white and blue to your 4th of July dessert table with this tasty, berry filled trifle.
1 angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes 4 cups mixed berries (ex.blackberries, blueberries, raspberries) Vignoles vanilla ice cream whipped cream
Place the mixed berries in a bowl and add enough Vignoles to just cover them. Marinate in the refrigerator overnight.
Cube the angel food cake into 1-inch pieces. In individual cups, layer the cubed angel food cake and cover with the marinated berries. Top the berries with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, more berries and a dollop of whipped cream. Serves 8.

Missouri Wine Festival - Soak up a bit of Missouri history while enjoying local wines at the Missouri Wine Festival Saturday, July 17. Stroll the back lawn of the historic Elms Resort & Spa in Excelsior Springs, MO from noon to 9 p.m. Sample great Missouri wine, listen to fantastic music and enjoy the creations of artists and crafters. Fair-tastic! - The Missouri State Fair, August 12-22 in Sedalia, is the granddaddy of summer fairs in the Show-Me State.

Take a break from the animal barns and carnival midway at the Missouri Wine tent where you can enjoy a glass of award-winning local wine and sign up for a wine 101 class.
