Support Gotham Girls Roller Derby 2011 was another fantastic year for Gotham Girls Roller Derby! We introduced 12 new skaters on our teams, expanded our recreational league to cater to demand from over 150 aspiring skaters, took home the WFTDA Championship for the second time in four years, and saw our skaters featured in major media outlets such as CNN, the Wall Street Journal, and ESPN The Magazine. Our skaters represented four different nations at the first Roller Derby World Cup, our volunteer video team put eleven more bouting episodes into televised rotation on NYC life, and our community outreach programs continued to spread the joy of skating, exercise, and teamwork throughout the city. What you might not know... Gotham Girls Roller Derby is a federally registered 501(c)3 not-for-profit charity, run entirely by volunteers, dedicated to developing amateur athletes for competition, and promoting the physical and mental strength and independent spirit of amateur female athletes. We're asking you to consider us as you make end-of-year charitable contributions. Help us to keep building our athlete development programs while also continuing to make roller derby an affordable fan experience for New Yorkers. For instance, * $2,000 can buy a week of rent at our practice facility; * $1,500 can subsidize the cost of a run of printed t-shirts for sale at our bout merch tables; * $200 subsidizes the cost of staffing medics at a bout; * $100 can pay for the pink and blue tape we use to mark the track boundaries at each bout. But any amount is appreciated! We know that if it weren't for our supporters, we'd still be skating while dodging cars under the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.
