Did you ever think you could outrace Bonnie Thunders? Out-hit Kandy Kakes? Out-juke Suzy Hotrod? And do it all directly against the Gotham skaters, in person?

Video game developer Frozen Codebase is proud to announce Jam City Rollergirls^TM, the first video game based on modern roller derby, featuring New York City's Gotham Girls Roller Derby as well as other WFTDA leagues.

Barcade - at 388 Union Avenue in Brooklyn - is hosting a special night for Gotham fans where you can challenge your favorite skaters.

"Skating" begins at 8pm, with special challenge rounds through the evening.

Extended Happy Hour pricing for our fans, along with Gotham league prizes for the best virtual skaters. Don't worry if you haven't played before — the game's only been out a week! You could very well be the best Jam City Rollergirl in the city!

Note that admission to Barcade is free but limited to ages 21+.

Jam City Rollergirls is an arcade-style roller derby video game developed for the Nintendo WiiWare^TM service. The game is not available in stores — it's available for direct download on an internet-connected Wii. Here's instructions how to download.

You can do battle as Gotham Girls characters and make use of their attack skills as they compete on-screen against the Rat City Rollergirls, Mad Rollin' Dolls, Brewcity Bruisers, and Texas Rollergirls.

Jam City Rollergirls is the first-ever women's flat track roller derby video game; this game is a major step forward in the history of modern roller derby. The WFTDA and Gotham Girls Roller Derby join the ranks of the world's major sports entities with their own licensed video game franchise.

Get ready to meet Gotham's newest crop of first-year skaters on Friday, March 18th, at the 2011 Derbytaunt Ball at Littlefield, 622 Degraw, Brooklyn. (This updates a previously announced March 13 tentative date.)

• Gotham versus Los Angeles - on the banked track!

Tune your browser to Derby News Network on Saturday, February 26th, as the Gotham Girls travel to Los Angeles for an exhibition against the L.A. Derby Dolls on their famous banked track.

Banked track derby is a similar but slightly different game than our flat track sport. To win, you still skate fast and turn left — but the banked track roller-coaster brings with it a whole separate set of challenges as skaters fight each other as well as gravity. It'll be a fun off-season trip to California for New York's best to give it a spin. As a special surprise for fans, they'll be joined on the track by some alumnae friends...

• Home Opener and Championship schedule

Get ready for Gotham's home opener, scheduled for March 26th, and circle October 29th on your calender as the date of the 2011 season championship.
