WHO ARE YOU? TAKE THE 2011 WFTDA DEMOGRAPHIC SURVEY
It's survey season! The WFTDA is conducting its second annual roller derby demographic survey.
Did you know that there are now over 750 amateur roller derby leagues around the world? And over 26,000 registered participants? The WFTDA's annual survey quantifies the nature of this skater population along with derby's fan base, here in New York and around the world. These figures can be used to identify trends within our roller derby community as the sport continues to explode in popularity. The results of last year's survey are summarized on the WFTDA's web site. These results helped every league in the world to define our audience and ourselves. Let us know: What brought you to a roller derby bout? How do you feel about the sport's presentation? How do you get your sports information? Even if you've only been to one bout, or you've only ever seen the Gotham Girls broadcasts on NYC life, please click on over to wftda.com/survey and spend just a few minutes telling us about yourself and how you feel about what we do. THANK YOU! The survey closes on Sunday, January 30th. 'JAM CITY ROLLERGIRLS' AVAILBLE TODAY, JANUARY 24

Hang tight, derby fans! We're crossing our 'T's and dotting our 'I's as we put together the most exciting season of Gotham Girls action yet.
The 2011 campaign will feature bouts at familiar sites as well as some exciting new venues around the city as we spread Gotham's message throughout the boroughs — roll fast, and roll hard! • Home Opener and Championship Get ready for Gotham's home opener, tentatively scheduled for March 26th, and circle October 29th on your calender as the date of the 2011 season championship. • Derbytaunt Ball Pencil in Sunday, March 13th as the likely (but not confirmed) date for the annual Derbytaunt Ball, where the league trots out its newest class of first-year Gotham Girls. This year's class has already been working hard, and they're the strongest crop ever! • Gotham versus Los Angeles - on the banked track! Tune your browser to Derby News Network on Saturday, February 26th, as the Gotham Girls travel to Los Angeles for an exhibition against the L.A. Derby Dolls on their famous banked track. Banked track derby is a similar but slightly different game than our flat track sport. To win, you still skate fast and turn left -- but the banked track roller-coaster brings with it a whole separate set of challenges as skaters fight each other as well as gravity. It'll be a fun off-season trip to California for New York's best to give it a spin. As a special surprise for fans, they'll be joined on the track by some old friends... Don't miss any upcoming announcements about the 2011 season dates and tickets by subscribing to our Twitter feed and being our Facebook friend! |
