NYC life - Gotham Girls Roller Derby
TONIGHT - ROLLER DERBY RETURNS TO NEW YORK'S TV AIRWAVES
Gotham Girls Roller Derby is delighted to announce that the 2010 programming schedule of NYC life will include eight episodes of 2010 Gotham Girls Roller Derby home bouting action.

Episode 1 -- Bronx vs. Brooklyn -- premieres Wednesday night, May 12th, at 11:30pm, with an encore airing at 12:30am on Saturday night, May 15th.

NYC life is both a cable and terrestrial channel, airing on Channel 25 throughout most of New York, and Channel 22 on Cablevision in the Bronx.

After initial airings, bout episodes will also be available to stream to your browser via NYC Media's Video On Demand site, www.nyc.gov/vod.

Each 90-minute episode will feature edited bout action, skater profiles, and analysis, bringing the hard-hitting action between the Manhattan Mayhem, Bronx Gridlock, Brooklyn Bombshells, and Queens of Pain directly into New York City's living rooms and computer screens.

The boutcasts are produced, filmed, and edited by the league's volunteers, who provide an informed and hands-on perspective into the inner workings of one of the city's fastest growing amateur sports leagues.

NYC life is the flagship station of NYC Media, the official TV, radio and online network of the City of New York, informing, educating and entertaining New Yorkers about the City’s diverse people and neighborhoods, government, services, attractions and activities.

The broadcasts are made possible with technical support from David Wilson Audio, Flickerlab, Gotham Sound and Communications, Inc, and Telestream.

GGRD needs financial and technical support for these continuing broadcasts -- contact sponsorship@gothamgirlsrollerderby.com to explore underwriting roller derby's exciting return to New York television!

The Bronx Gridlock opened GGRD's 2010 home season with a 145-52 victory over the Brooklyn Bombshells in a sold-out bout featuring tight defense, big hits, and a wild halftime hula-hooping show from Miss Saturn.

Read about the bout in the NYC life broadcast preview by new GGRD editorial contributor Thomas Gerbasi.

Gotham's rookies, many in their first-ever public bouting action, donned flesh-eating zombie makeup to battle together against the Jerzey Derby Brigade of Morristown, NJ.

The league's future stars rolled past the Morristown hosts, 201-67, with an offense paced by Bronx rookie B. Zerk (54 points), Queens rookie Puss 'n Glutes (45 points), Brooklyn rookie Score of Babylon (44 points), and Manhattan rookie Anne Frankenstein (38 points).

The undead blood-spattered rookies next play together in Pennsylvania against Lehigh Valley on July 17.
