The original two Gotham teams resume their storied five-season rivalry as the Manhattan Mayhem take on the Brooklyn Bombshells in a full-length battle for supremacy on the track.

The Bombshells bring eight exciting new teammates to the track, while the Mayhem aim to build on their two-bout winning streak. Will the shipmates from Brooklyn be able to lock down the Mayhem, or will the cunning convicts from Manhattan leave the Bombshells in dry dock? Watch the two founding teams of Gotham battle it out!

Halftime Entertainment will include a swingin' performance by the Big Apple Lindy Hoppers, and DJ Reaganomics will spin the music before and during the bout.

This faceoff takes place at the Hunter College Sportsplex, at the southwest corner of Lexington Ave and 68th Street in Manhattan, directly at the 68th street stop on the (6) subway line and near the (F) train stop at 63rd street.

(GWN) is New York’s premier creative writing and mentoring non-profit organization, matching bright, creative teenage girls from the city’s public high schools with professional women writers. Their mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where girls can develop their creative, independent voices, explore careers in professional writing, and learn how to make healthy choices in school, career, and life.

Roller derby is a dynamic and photogenic sport, and the Gotham Girls play it harder, faster, and flashier than anyone else.

The action-packed 2009 campaign promises even more opportunities for memorable sports photography. 2008's winning photographs have been featured in the Gotham Girls' on-line photo album, at the season-ending awards ceremony, in the 2009 Season Program, and in other league materials.

Photographers at GGRD bouts are invited to participate in four contest categories:

• Best Pack Action
• Jammer Action
• Crowd/Ambiance Shot
• NEW CATEGORY: Best Photo, Junior Division (age 13 and under)

Junior Division prize: a brand-new pair of skates from , Brooklyn’s Bicycle Emporium.
All photos taken at 2009 GGRD home or away bouts are eligible. Entries due October 24, 2009. Please email press@gothamgirlsrollerderby.com to get advance clearance if you intend to bring a camera with a telephoto lens to a bout.
