See the defending 2008 champion Queens of Pain fight the perennially powerful Bronx Gridlock in the initial battle of the Gotham Girls Roller Derby home schedule.
The league's home season kicks off with its fiercest rivalry. These teams are packed with hot rookies and veteran stars, and all five previous meetings have been can't-miss showstoppers! Get your tickets ASAP, if you haven't already! Halftime Entertainment will include a wild west performance by World Champion Trick Roper Chris McDaniel. Season Program Debut! On Saturday, GGRD introduces the fabulous full-color 48-page 2009 Season Program, for sale at the merch tables and packed with photos and info about the league, the game of derby, and profiles of all the skaters. Which Mayhem skater is certified in handgun safety? Who on the Gridlock has a deep and meaningful relationship with pancakes? Find out in the 2009 Season Program. Showdown held at the Hunter College Sportsplex, at the south west corner of Lexington Ave and 68th street, convenient to the (6) subway stop at 68th street and the (F) train stop at 63rd street. On April 18th the GGRD All-Stars traveled to Baltimore
and defeated the #7
ranked All-Stars of the Charm City Rollergirls,
120-72.
Gotham skaters Barbara Ambush and Papierschnitt, both of the Brooklyn Bombshells, made their All-Star debuts in the solid Gotham victory. Read the bout recap on the Derby News Network! Donna Matrix of the Queens of Pain was voted the MVP by the Charm City skaters, and Gotham recognized Joy Collision as the most valuable Baltimore skater. The next GGRD All-Star comes with a trip to Raleigh to face the #6 ranked Carolina Rollergirls on June 6th. Travel to the dirty south to cheer on the WFTDA champs! Tickets available here. | ||
