in a special weekday game this Friday!
The Manhattan Mayhem and the Brooklyn Bombshells face each other in the final game of the Gotham Girls Roller Derby regular season in the only Friday night game of the year. The league's two original teams square off this Friday, September 12th at the Hunter College Sportsplex on 68th Street and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan.
Both teams enter this matchup with 0-2 records and have been practicing hard in hopes of taking home their first victory of the season. In their match-up last season, Brooklyn came out victorious with an 86-66 score over Manhattan. But the Bombshells, many of whom are founding members of the league and have been skating for several seasons, are plagued by injuries and will be missing some key veterans in the upcoming game. Meanwhile, Mayhem's crew of talented rookies are eager to prove themselves and the team has shown vast improvement in recent scrimmages.
So, will the sailorettes from Brooklyn stop the Mayhem's prison break, or will the cons from Manhattan sink the Bombshells' ship? Come enjoy the last regular season game of 2008 - with 2 more post-season games in late-September and October - with these two fan-favorite teams!

· Brooklyn All-Stars Anne Phetamean, Ariel Assault, Barbara Ambush and Hard Anya are all on the injury-list for this game -- as a result, the Bombshells have called upon recent league transfer Julietta Vendetta to step into their ranks for this game, and Bronx jammer Luna Impact will also be making a guest appearance for Brooklyn
· Brooklyn blocker Ani Dispanco is making her 2008 season bout debut after sustaining a fractured left fibula (broken ankle) at the beginning of the training season. She promises to deliver a season's-worth of pent-up aggression!
· Manhattan Team Captain Sweet Sherry Pie recently received a replacement battery in her pacemaker for a congenital heart condition, but still hasn't missed a beat of this season!
· Brooklyn Team Captain Hela Skelter has recently been cleared for bouting after being sidelined with a torn retina in her right eye
· Manhattan All-Star Fisti Cuffs recently returned from Tucson, AZ, where she and the Gotham Girls All-Stars defeated her former team, the Tucson Roller Derby Saddletramps
· Brooklyn blocker Speedy Sedgwick escaped the cellblock last season and now sails the high seas with the Bombshells, hoping to swab the deck with the ladies in orange
Team Captains, game MVPs and other select skaters will be available for photographs and autographs immediately following the bout at the Autograph Table, located in the lobby near the Merchandise Table.
