The undefeated 2007 Season Champions, the Bronx Gridlock return to Hunter College at 68th Street and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan on June 7th to defend their title against the navy blue sailorettes of the Brooklyn Bombshells, who aren't about to let a lil' ol' trophy intimidate them.
For every team this season, it's a whole new "brawl" game - with fresh faces, new strategies and, of course, plenty of newly-minted bruises. The other two teams in the Gotham family entertained a sold-out crowd with loads of hits and glitz on May 10th, when the 2005-06 GGRD Champions, the black and silver-clad Queens of Pain, triumphed over the orange jumpsuited-parolees of the Manhattan Mayhem. The 2007 winless Mayhem team was rebuilt with eight new rookies this season, but in the end, experience beat enthusiasm, resulting in a final score of Queens 152 - Manhattan 71.
Queens' Game MVP, blocker Donna Matrix, cleared a path to victory, while Manhattan's Game MVP title went to fierce rookie jammer, Em Dash. Queens will bring back their A-game when they square off against the Brooklyn Bombshells on June 28th, and Mayhem will have another chance to show their stuff against the Bronx Gridlock in July.
