Where Warriors Prepare for Battle!
Ahh yes, most guys know exactly where I got the title of this article. In fact, if you can't find it anywhere else, Northern Tool probably has it. Like Team Ironman, Northern Tool has figured out a way to connect with men! They speak our language! When I was ready to do battle with the old winch on the front of my boat trailer, I went to Northern Tool to find the new one. There are many Christians that would like to think that THE CHURCH is the place where Christian men (excuse me Warriors) go to prepare for battle. Sadly, if you look at the statistics it would appear that most men consider church the last place to go for spiritual battle preparation. Barna tells us that the average American congregation has an adult attendance that is 61% female and only 39% male. Even with movements like Promise Keepers, male church attendance since the 1990's has steadily declined. But regardless of where you receive your training, the spiritual battle is real and our enemy is well trained and you should be too! Here are 3 proven battle techniques for today's Christian Warrior. Introducing the Lake Murray Chapter of Ironman Outdoors
From the very beginning we have said that multiplication is better than addition. What this means is Patrick and the guys can only do so many retreats a year. Addition is the same guys doing more retreats each year. But the real benefit is in multiplication...when we grow new leaders who can lead their own retreats and therefore reach more men for Christ! Chuck Williams and Jonathan Johnson attend Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Irmo, SC. Since early February we have been discussing the possibility of establishing a new chapter of Ironman Outdoors. Recently we finally got all of the details worked out and have formally established the Lake Murray Chapter. The Lake Murray Chapter will have its own Board of Directors and its own bank account but will partner with IO on everything else. We are very encouraged by Chuck and Jonathan's leadership and look forward to them helping them reach men in their own church and community. |
Want to be more involved with Team Ironman?
With the amazing growth of Ironman Outdoors, recently we made a conscientuous effort to grow new leaders. Usually, after every retreat there are one or two guys who come up to us and say "man I really want to get involved in this ministry." So now we have established a way for guys to get more involved.
Guide - this is a guy who comes on a retreat with us and volunteers to help lead the hunting or fishing, help cook the meals, do the dishes, and just help the retreat to go smoothly.
Field Representative - this is a guy who has served as a guide and has expressed an interest to be more involved. These guys will help us set up the retreats, make contacts with landowners, represent Team Ironman at events, and generally help grow the ministry.
Pro-Staffers - these are the guys who are gifted in ministry to be able to lead Ironman retreats. They are skilled hunters or fisherman and they also have the spiritual wisdom to be able to facilitate the manhood discussions and help connect men to Christ in the outdoors. The IO Board of Directors will vote and approve all new Pro-Staffers.
So if you are reading this email and saying, "I want to be involved" consider being a guide, field rep, or maybe even a pro-staffer. We are thankful for the wonderful guys that God has blessed us with in this ministry. We need more leaders! Email Patrick if you want to be more involved. | |
