Positive Feedback from Emerald Baptist Church in Greenwood, SC

"I just wanted to let you guys know that Sam McCravy and his wife joined our church yesterday morning. He and his wife also joined our Sunday School Class. His wife told me that may have been on a hog hunt but he came home a different man. Preacher Curt proclaimed from the pulpit that this was a direct result of some of our men attending an Ironman Retreat and more men in our area and church needed to step up the plate and see for themselves what God can do."

NEW TEAM IRONMAN TRAILER!New Trailer
We serve a Big God!  No, I'm not just saying that...today I have witnessed it first hand.  It was only about 5 weeks ago that myself and others began praying for an enclosed trailer to haul all of our gear around to the retreats.  I also sent out an email similar to this one letting folks know about this need.  Today I picked up our new Team Ironman trailer from a Christian business man who wishes to remain  anonymous.  This brings to mind Provers 11:25 "A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed."  Tonight as I type this email I am refreshed and reminded of how big a God we serve.   "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26

Summerton Knows Wild Game!

Rick, Rob, Bubba

I know just about everyone has been to a Wild Game Dinner...but I have been to the Super Bowl of Wild Game dinners!  This past Thursday night 3 buddies from Mens Fraternity and I loaded up my wife's mini-van (OK perhaps we should have driven a truck) and headed down to Summerton, SC for their 6th Annual Wild Game Dinner.  Men from all over the state of SC converged on a barn in the middle of a field near Goat Island.  Rob Pierce, pastor of Summerton Baptist Church, organized a small army of volunteers to pull off what had to be one of the greatest grilling miracles of all time...they fed 2,000 men in 21 minutes!  And I'm not talking about bologne sandwiches either.  They had 5 different kinds of wild game, one vegetable (slaw) and bananna pudding that would have my Grandma asking for the recipe.

After the eating was done (I never knew 2,000 grown men could be so quiet) the Cross Anchor quartet sang upbeat gospel music to set the mood of the evening.  The sun was setting over a beautiful pasture, the men were enjoying the beast feast, and you could almost sense the presence of God as Rick Burgess took the stage to speak.  Rick is most famous for his radio show in Alabama known as the "Rick and Bubba Show." Rick "talked straight" with us boys about everything from football to deer hunting to how much Christ loves us.  And as my friend McGee Moody noted "Rick doesn't just talk the Christian life, he lives it!"  In the end, God was glorified and lots of decisions were made for Christ.  Our hats go off to Pastor Rob Pierce and all of the churches around Summerton, SC that went in together and showed the rest of us how Wild Game Dinners ought to be done!  By the way, the photo above is of Rick, Rob Pierce, and Bubba.
