New Name, Vision and Mission Announced August 16

miSci Trustee Tobi Saulnier announcing our new name August 16, 2012.

Taking another step forward in our planned transformation into a regional science center, we have a new name, miSci (pronounced "my - sigh"), the Museum of Innovation and Science. Our new name more accurately reflects our updated vision: a scientifically literate community sparking innovation, and mission: to celebrate, explore and inspire science and technology, past, present and future.

miSci reflects science at the personal level and conveys accessibility to all people of all ages who are trying to understand how technology and innovation affect them. Further, miSci is a reflection of the community, in this case a diverse community that has had, and is currently actively taking, a leadership role in the technological revolution.

"The new logo symbolizes this organization's transformation to an increasingly interactive science center. The new logo evokes orbits at the atomic level and the cosmic level, encompassing the range of science visitors can experience at miSci from nanoscale to galactic," said Tobi Saulnier, miSci trustee and marketing committee member.  Read more.

Seeing, a New Interactive Exhibition from San Francisco's Exploratorium
Members Only Opening | October 5, 7 - 9pm
Public Opening | October 6, 11am - 5pm

Seeing Exhibition
Shocking proof that we don't all see the same thing when looking at the same scene, these 36 interactive exhibits (six will be located at CMOST, The Children's Museum of Science and Technology) explore and explain visual perception. This exhibition questions our notion of objectivity and provides insight as to how the eye and brain function together.

With special thanks to Neil & Jane Golub and National Grid, Seeing comes to miSci through a new partnership with the Exploratorium Network for Exhibit-Based Teaching (ExNET) program. Through this partnership, miSci will receive a different group of hands-on, exploratory-rich exhibits each year for five years. Read more.

Members Only Opening Reception sponsored by Mazzone Hospitality.

Explore chemistry, engineering, nanoscale science, and other topics with scientists from regional companies and universities, and miSci educators and volunteers. Hands-on science programs like ZOOM Into Science foster an interest in science. Experiencing science in an informal setting stimulates youths' curiosity, reinforces classroom learning, encourages active investigation, and awakens an awareness of career pathways in math, science, technology, and engineering. ZOOM Into Science, in partnership with CMOST and WMHT, is made possible by the generous support of:
