60th Birthday Party
Classmates Jeanne Sparrough Chicca and Gil Dudrow worked hard to organize a 60th birthday party for us in Ocean City. The weekend of September 20-23 coincided with OC's SunFest celebration. 42 attended the 3-night celebration including spouses and significant others. Some arrived Thursday night to attend a concert by the popular band "The Hubcaps" on the Inlet. The following day others arrived to spend the day in Ocean City or Rehoboth Beach. That Friday night 42 folks attended a dinner at Ledo's hosted by Jeanne. Saturday morning Gil hosted golf and then spent the afternoon watching my Deacons beat the Terps in football (editorial privilege). A very heavy rain failed to dampen the spirits of all who gathered Saturday night at the Fenwick Inn where Gil Dudrow emceed the evening activites. Lots of reminiscing about our good old days. Please go to our website for more pictures of the weekend.

Others Celebrate 60th in NYC
Carol Glasgow Perlmeter, Ellen Paul Goldklang, Randi Rose, Carol Weinberg Burger and
Karen Walker Lowman.
We love New York! And so we trained or flew there, some of us with spouses, too, to spend a long weekend in the Big Apple. On the agenda: visits to the Museum of Modern Art, shopping (of course!) lunches and dinners and a Friday evening concert at The Lincoln Center.
That Friday event culminated with a tour of the two theatres in the Lincoln Center Complex. Jessica Perlmeter Cochrane, daughter of Alan '65 and Carol Glasgow '65 Perlmeter is a company manager in the complex and was our guide.
In a weekend of highlights, we created another on Saturday night, throwing a party in Tribeca. Randi's cousin "donated" his artist's loft to us. We invited relatives and friends living in NYC and Brooklyn to join us for an evening of reminiscing and celebrating our 60th year and our friendship. Some of us have known each other since elementary school days. |
What's New? Help make this newsletter and our website better. Please send interesting photos to Dwight Gentry, newsletter editor, with a short statement about what's going on in your life. Where are you working now? Do you have children or grandchildren? Have you traveled to interesting places lately? What about retirement plans, hobbies, community activities. Your classmates would love to know. And, of special interest, are you still in touch with classmates? If so, we'd love to know how you have maintained your friendships over the years and interesting things you may have done together. Photos and stories are needed! |
Begin Again One of the best things we can do in our lives is this - begin again.
Begin to see yourself as you were
When you were the happiest and strongest you've ever been.
Begin to remember what worked for you
And try to capture the magic again.
Begin to remember how natural it was when you were a child
to live a lifetime each day.
Begin to forget the baggage you carried with you for years:
The problems that don't matter any more. The tears that cried themselves away
and the worries that are going to wash away on the shore of tomorrow's new beginnings.
Tomorrow tells us it will be here every new day of our lives;
And if we will be wise, we will turn away from the problems of the past
and give the future and ourselves a chance to become the best of friends.
Sometimes all it takes is a wish in the heart to let yourself
