Greetings!
"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." Anais Nin
In the last newsletter I challenged you to make 2012 the year of taking risks and facing your greatest fears. It's time to pull out that list you made at the beginning of the year (your goals, things to accomplish, fears to challenge) dust it off and get busy. It's Spring, a time for action, a time to plant seeds that will grow dreams into reality, a time to check off accomplishments on that list.
The workshop schedule for the remainder of 2012 has been published. We're counting on you to check the schedule for Part 1 workshops and help spread the word to friends and family. If you have not yet completed the workshop trilogy, we hope you will check the schedule and register for the next workshop on your journey. We would love to see you this summer!

2012 Annual NATSAP Conference
The annual conference of the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) was held in early February this year in Orlando, FL. Representing Soltura at the conference were Carole Rosenberg, Steve and Alix Buckley, and Roger and Corky White. This conference provides an opportunity for Soltura to reconnect with professionals in the therapeutic program community and further spread the word about the benefits of Soltura workshops for the parents of teens struggling with emotional and behavioral challenges.
There was increased interest this year among educational consultants at the conference. These are professionals who assist families in finding an appropriate school or program for their struggling teen. Educational consultants are always in search of new resources for families and we hope they will help spread the word about Soltura workshops to their communities.

Ready for our Summer FUNdraiser?
Save the Dates!
We did it last year and loved it...so we're doing it again. The Summer FUNdraiser is our newest tradition and we are already planning for this year's event. Our online auction will start June 15 and culminate in a gathering at Lakebay on Saturday, August 18. Save the date and plan to come. More information will be available soon. If you missed last year's event, click on the photo to see the photo album of the FUN we had. Accepting Auction Items Now!
We want the auction to be really special again this year, so if anyone has something to donate to the auction, please contact us at info@soltura.net. We hope to have a wide selection of items: art, photography, apparel and accessories, books, jewelry, vacation lodging, home decor items, unique furniture, and much more. We know there are talented artists, photographers, and craftsmen in our community who may be willing to share their creations. How about donating airline miles? Or, try talking your favorite store or boutique into donating a unique item or two. We'll let everyone know who donated each item and provide a link to the donor's website. Put on your thinking cap to see how you can help with items for the auction.

Soltura's New "Look"
You may have noticed that over the past few months we have gradually changed our branding, namely the "look" of Soltura online and in print materials. The blue swirls are out and nature is in, featuring the colors: brown (earth), green (leaves) and blue (sky). This look better reflects the Soltura setting and our beliefs, bringing a fresh, organic feel to our print materials and online presence. If you have visited our Twitter page or YouTube channel lately, you saw that these pages have already been redesigned to reflect the new look...as has this newsletter, beginning with the last edition. We are happy to announce that a total revision of the Soltura website is underway and should be completed soon. The photo above provides a sneak preview of the home page. The new website is designed to provide more detailed information, lots of workshop photos, new ways to interact with the Soltura community and a few surprise features, as well. Stay tuned for more updates.

Feedback Corner
Growing up in a household where alcoholism and addiction ran rampant, I decided to do everything in my power to avoid the pain and destruction of this disease when I started my own family. Unfortunately, my youngest son turned out to be an addict, and I was left no other option than to send him to long-term treatment last year. I felt paralyzed by fear and I was only capable of viewing my 'glass in life' as half empty, never half full. I cried all the time, even when I wasn't sure why.
After a considerable amount of pushing from my qualifier son, my son's rehab facility and my husband, I agreed to attend the first of the Soltura workshops late last October. I am generally reluctant to speak in positive, praising tones, but I can only say that my experience at Soltura was life altering.
When the workshop started, Carole stated that I was much more than my son's addiction. She suggested the issues that keep me from living freely go back much further than the date my son starting using drugs. At first, this made no sense; I always thought I was open and able to talk about feelings and my past. Through Soltura I learned that just talking about painful experiences does not always mean you have worked through the pain. The workshop helped me access this pain and release it in ways that words never could. Soltura taught me that I use certain defenses in order to protect myself. While these defenses were first used as a means of survival, they unwittingly kept those I love most at a distance and caused me to feel sad and lonely. The Soltura workshop exposed the lies I tell myself which paralyze me, keeping me from living and loving freely. By exposing the lies I tell myself, I was given the gift of seeing my goodness, my truth. The workshop was emotional and required me to be open, honest and willing. While the experience was exhausting, the rewards of my labor were immense and ever so freeing.
It is hard to imagine, but the four-day Soltura experience has changed my life. I now know that what I have always searched for, lies within me. I now feel that there is joy in life; it is up to me to find it, whether great or small. I still cry, but now I cry with purpose and feel that I am valuable enough to get through the painful experiences that will come my way in life.Carrie F., Connecticut - January 2012 Unfortunately, due to space limitations, it was necessary to excerpt only part of Carrie's testimonial, click on the photo to read her entire story.

Volunteer Spotlight

This issue we are shining the Volunteer Spotlight on Rob Gosselink. Rob was among the very first group of men to complete The Knight in Rusty Armor workshop trilogy and currently serves as President of the Soltura Board of Directors. He is always ready to support Soltura in any way needed, whether it be referring people to our workshops, donating to the scholarship or Keep the Dream Alive funds, providing legal review of Soltura documents, or helping facilitate a mens workshop. We celebrate Rob for his genuine heart, positive energy and his unwavering support of Soltura.
BIG THANK YOU to Rob and all our volunteer facilitators. We applaud you for selflessly sharing your time, energy and personal experiences to support Soltura and help others along their path of self-discovery. Living our Dreams
This column features members of our community who are living their passions and making dreams come true.
 Kayce Publishes Book
Kayce Hughlett, one of the first women to complete the workshop trilogy and long-time workshop facilitator, published As I Lay Pondering, a book of daily readings, earlier this year. Kayce explains, "I was compelled to write this book to honor the life-changing moments I have witnessed throughout my life, and to acknowledge the internal spark I believe each of us carries. My hope is that the words shared in [this book] will provide essential kindling to ignite the flame [in the life of others]." Congratulations, Kayce, on this significant achievement and for living your passions. Kayce's book can be purchased at the Soltura Store, on Kayce's blog website, or through Amazon.com Tara's New Store
Several years ago Tara D., a Trilogy graduate and frequent workshop facilitator, turned her passion of making sterling silver jewelry into a small business and began selling her jewelry in local stores and through her website Solitude & Soul. Recently she expanded her business to include a retail store, located in Regina, SK, Canada, featuring her jewelry, home decor items, and personal accessories. We want to send out a big Congrats! to Tara for continuing to live her passions and pursue ever bigger dreams. Who will be next to take a deep breath and step forward to live their dream. Let us know and we will share the news with the Soltura community.
