Changes Parent Support Network
On October 16th, Carole spoke at the Redmond Saturday Seminar Series sponsored by the Changes Parent Support Network. Entitled "What About Me...the Parent", this experiential presentation focused on helping parents of struggling teens reconnect their true self and understand that they have choices in how they experience life, independent of the challenges facing their child and his or her actions.

Greetings!

"Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a             conspiracy of love."             --
Hamilton Wright Mabie

We wish the Soltura community and their families a holiday season full of joy, gratitude and grace. We are thankful for our family of friends and loyal supporters. Without you we could not continue to be part of the global dream of "changing the world, one person at a time." We encourage you to remember to listen to your own rhythm, open your eyes to the simple miracles around you, spend time with loved ones and reconnect with those who may have slipped outside the arc of your circle of love.

We are proud of what the Soltura community has accomplished in 2010, excited about what lies ahead in 2011 and are honored to be able to share it with you. If you want to keep your pendulum swinging...stay involved!

A look back at 2010
A major goal for 2010 was to have the Soltura name and mission  represented by a larger footprint  both online and in  select communities nationwide. We continue to maintain our website, online store, Facebook page and Twitter updates. On YouTube, we have added a Soltura channel that includes two newly created Soltura slideshows and a song written and performed by a workshop participant after completing his first workshop. Look for the YouTube link in the left sidebar to check it out. We also now are  listed on GreatNonProfits.org,  a website that encourages people to tell the story of how their favorite nonprofit has touched their life. In addition, regional support groups were formed in Lubbock, TX, Northern California and the Puget Sound, WA area, all of whom meet regularly and have their own Facebook group page.

Outside the Soltura community we have continued to connect with the therapeutic community as well as health and wellness professionals. Carole and Alix attended the annual conference of the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) to network with programs serving struggling teens and young adults. Working with Gray Wolf Ranch, a program for young men with substance abuse challenges, we conducted a workshop for the mothers of their students and have a father's workshop on the schedule for January 2011 and another mother's workshop in February 2011. In April, Carole spoke at the TEDxTacoma series on living with passion, sponsored by the University of Puget Sound and in October she conducted an experiential seminar for the Changes Parent Support Network.

As we move forward into 2011 we will be hiring a full-time marketing / administrative staff, creatively working with more therapeutic programs, continuing to improve post workshop support opportunities, designing and scheduling other personal growth/healing experiences -- and counting on our Soltura community to stay involved and pass the word to family, friends and co-workers about that little gem of a program in the Pacific Northwest!

Sharing it forward...
Honor someone special  by donating a gift to Soltura in their name and, in the process, help to change lives! When we receive your donation, we will send a special card to the person(s) you want to honor with a personal message from you informing them of the gift!

We think it is important that you know how your donation will be used...so we let you decide! It can be applied to the Pay It Forward Scholarship Fund to help others realize their dream of personal growth through a Soltura workshop, or choose the Keep the Dream Alive fund used to develop new workshops and help Soltura grow in other ways.

By now, all of you should have received a card in the mail explaining how to support Soltura by giving a gift this holiday season. We understand it has been a tough year for some of you, but please give what you can or consider giving a small amount each month with a recurring donation -- every little bit helps and is deeply appreciated. Simply complete the donor card included in your packet and tell us who you want to honor and how you want your gift to be used...and we will do the rest!  If you have moved or did not receive a card for some reason, please contact us with your correct address at info@Soltura.net or (253) 857-3444.
Facilitator Spotlight
Tara D.
"Looking for something more in my life, feeling lost and not comfortable in my skin, I was presented with an opportunity to do a Soltura workshop."   Those words, written by Tara D., are part of a description of her Soltura experience. That was four years ago and since that time Tara has completed the women's workshop trilogy and blossomed into a confident and inspiring young woman  who operates her own small business. She shares her gifts forward by regularly supporting others on their journey of self-discovery as a volunteer facilitator for the women's workshop series.

Without our loyal volunteers Soltura would not be able to continue offering our life-changing workshops. Self-exploration is difficult and the support of facilitators is crucial to the process. So while we send a special Thank You to Tara, it is important to note that she is part of a team of facilitators willing to work hard, open their hearts, and help guide others along the path to personal freedom.

Crystal shares her experience
The impact of the Soltura experience on my life has been huge. Before Soltura, my life was very dark with depression, addiction and pain. I've been addicted to drugs, food and actually, misery for many, many years. I thought I was doing these things to avoid or distract myself from pain, however, what I was really doing was choosing to relive this cycle over and over. I dreaded each morning, but, I would get up each day and dress up, put on a pretty face and pretend my way through life. It was exhausting. Nobody knew my struggles, my sorrow, my profound loneliness, including those closest to me. I had no idea what was on the other side of all of that pain. Soltura guided me through the process of finding out. The Joy, light and freedom that is on the other side is phenomenal. I now live life! I was introduced to who I really am but never allowed myself to be. I now live authentically, with honesty, grace, gratitude and forgiveness for myself and those who I have been hurt by. I see miracles in everyday life that were always there, but I had been missing them. I know my truth and I believe in myself again and people know it! Therefore, every relationship in my life has changed for the better, even those I chose to let go of. Make no mistake, Soltura is a difficult journey that takes courage to go through. However, the changes in my life have been drastic, profound, humbling, enlightening and permanent. I never could have dreamed of the possibilities, now I live them!   -- Crystal V.D., Concord, CA - October 2010
