Greetings!
It's hard to believe it's April already...we have had a busy beginning to 2010 and want to share the news with our Soltura family. We are introducing several new services and have a women's reunion planned for this summer. Check out all the details here and let us know what you think.
The workshop schedule for the year has been published, including a Part 4: Spirit Wave for women and another one for men (first time). We also are introducing a new standalone workshop -- see article below for details. The complete 2010 workshop schedule is included in the sidebar of this newsletter and is also posted on our website. Register early as space is limited, especially in Part 2 and 3 workshops. Spring has come to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We love this time of year and the renewal that occurs. Hope that buds and flowers are appearing where you are and that the weather is warming.
Live Fearlessly,
Carole

Announcing New Board Member
| A special thank you to Shea Conway who continues "sharing it forward" by showing support to everyone through his wonderful comments on the Soltura Facebook page, sending several new workshop participants our way, facilitating the Introductory Workshop in California, helping start the Soltura Northern California Support Group and, as many of you know, sending some fainting goats to Lakebay in the near future. We are also very excited to welcome Shea as the newest member of Soltura's Board of Directors. Shea, your sincerity, compassion, and generosity is like a "peaceful morning." You are an "adventurous amazing miracle" to all with whom you come in contact. THANK YOU for being YOU! |
What's New for 2010
| Soltura One-day Introductory Workshops
In February we visited Lubbock, Texas and Concord, California to initiate the first Introductory Workshops. This workshop is an eight hour interactive experience of self-exploration for those interested in awakening to alternate ways to view their personal struggles and be empowered to do something different while gaining exposure to the Soltura approach. We had a wonderful turn out in both cities and are looking forward to scheduling other introductory workshops this year. If you are interested in hosting a local Introductory Workshop in your area, please let us know.
Thank you to the following workshop participants who helped facilitate these workshops: Texas: Alix Buckley, Steve Buckley, Susan Sexton, Lisa Story, James Sigler and Steve Medley. California: Crystal Van Dyke, Shea Conway, and Donna Verna.

Participant Support Groups
Another goal for 2010 is to establish regional participant support groups where participants from different workshops who live near each other can meet to share their struggles and "ah-ha" moments with people who share a common language and experience. While we were in Lubbock and Concord to facilitate the new Introductory Workshops, we organized coed support groups for past participants at all levels of their Soltura journey. The attendance and level of honest communication in each gathering was amazing and demonstrated how important these interpersonal connections are to helping participants continue the lessons experienced in the workshops. Each group has decided to continue meeting on a monthly basis and have developed their own Facebook "group" page for spontaneous communication with one another. Thank you to Charlotte Riley and Kalie Wikel for stepping up and volunteering to organize future meetings. The next Soltura-facilitated Support Group is scheduled to be held in Lakebay, Washington on April 18, 2010 for participants in the Seattle / Tacoma / Key Peninsula area. |
Introducing a New Workshop
| The Grief & Healing of Loss
This is an experiential, issue-focused workshop designed for men or women feeling overwhelmed by the intensity of emotions occurring after a loss or significant life transition. This standalone experience is not part of the Soltura workshop trilogy and anyone facing this challenge is welcome to participate. Recognizing that grief and loss can bring individuals into uncharted territory, we have developed this opportunity to provide a safe place for people to honor their own unique grieving process.
This workshop is scheduled for women on May 6 - 9, 2010. If you or someone you know is interested, please go to our website and/or contact us immediately. |
Returning Home Celebration
| Women's Reunion 2008
 | Women's Reunion
A gathering for all women who have completed either the Knight in Rusty Armor or Wizard of Oz trilogy is planned for July 8 - 11, 2010 at Lakebay, Washington. This is a great opportunity to catch up with all your Soltura sisters and meet new ones from other workshops. We are planning a "by
choice" agenda including morning readings, sharing groups, guided
meditations, drum circles, dancing, play time, kayaking, cooking,
relaxation time and informal group discussions--and, of course, lots of food and fun! Invitations have already been sent to all eligible women. If you did not receive your invitation or need further information, don't hesitate to contact us at (253) 857-3444 or info@Soltura.net. We need your RSVP by June 1, 2010 so we know how many of you plan to attend. |
Annual NATSAP Conference
| Alix & Carole Attend
In January Alix Buckley and Carole Rosenberg attended the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs Annual Conference in La Jolla, California. NATSAP is the primary national organization for therapeutic programs serving teenagers and young adults struggling with emotional and behavioral challenges. We met with various program personnel and educational consultants to introduce Soltura workshops as a viable self-awareness tool and support system for the parents of young people attending these programs. We have started a buzz of curiosity and are in continued contact with several of the people we met to determine how we can work together in assisting the healing of individuals and families. During the conference we also attended educational lectures on the current trends in group meditation, dual diagnosis and understanding and supporting participants who are struggling with self-destructive behaviors.
