Greetings!
If you are among the two-thirds of Americans who are overweight, shedding some pounds can save you substantial money on health costs. A recent study confirms that heavy people (as defined by their Body Mass Index "BMI") spend more on health care...and the costs increase dramatically with a higher BMI:
BMI Annual Medical Expenditures
25 $ 1,938
30 $ 2,086
35 $ 2,963
40 $ 5,510
45 $ 13,327
Not sure how to calculate your BMI? Here is the formula and an example to help you out.
BMI = Weight x 703 -------------------------------------------- height in inches x height in inches
For example a 6 foot (72 inches) 200-tall man who weighs 200 pounds would have a BMI of:
200 x 703 ------------ = 27 72 x 72
