10 YEARS & GOING STRONG!
Aspen Athletic Clubs will be celebrating its 10 year anniversary on October 1st. I have always heard that the years seem to fly by as you get older, and that certainly seems true as it only seems like yesterday that my family moved here from sunny Southern California. True story, but we moved in on December 26th and the temperature was ten below zero, only about an 80 degree difference from what we left behind in San Diego.
We have been fortunate to make a number of great friends and truly enjoy the last 10 years living in Des Moines. My sons were in elementary school when we moved here, and now they are grown up and attending college and their last year of high school. No wonder my once brown hair is gray.
For those of you who don't know all our history, here is a quick summary of when our Des Moines clubs came into existence:
October 2000 - Purchased our first club on Hickman Road
July 2001 - Opened our 40,000 square feet SE14th location
October 2005 - Opened our first Active club in West Glen Town Center
August 2007 - Opened our second Active club on Fleur Drive
December 2007 - Opened our Merle Hay Road club
To celebrate our first ten years in business and say thank you to all of our loyal members, we will be offering a number of special events and promotions during the month of October, capped off by member appreciation parties at each of our clubs on Thursday, October 28th. Please mark this date down on your calendar as it should be lots of fun.
It has been a privilege to be your health club of choice during these past ten years and we look forward to serving you for many more.

You may have noticed that the 3 courts inside our tennis bubble were out of commission for the past couple of weeks. This is so we could resurface them so that they look and play their best. We chose to resurface the courts in blue and green, which is the same color as most of the tournament courts you see on TV today. They look great and are fully ready to play, so I encourage you to give them a try at your earliest convenience. If you're looking to get back into tennis, looking for someone to play with, or just want to improve your game, please contact Gary Scholl, our Director of Tennis, at 278-2582 or gscholl@aspenathletic.com.
