REMINDING STAKEHOLDERS TO INSPECT SEWER LINES
Dept. of Public Works, Bureau of Sanitation (BOS) requests that
stakeholders inspect their lateral sewer lines and correct
as necessary to avoid costly emergency repairs.

Aging laterals are susceptible to damage, i.e., tree
roots and debris can invade lines through cracks
or loose joints and restrict flow; the roots
can cause total collapse of over time.

SAFETY & SECURITY- LAPD

COMMUNITY ALERT - WLA MULTI-UNIT APARTMENT BUILDINGS TARGET
Unknown suspect(s) enter apartment buildings by following
delivery personnel or requesting permission to enter
via the intercom entry system. Suspect(s) utilize lock
pick tools to defeat door lock mechanism.
Residents should utilize the dead bolt lock as it takes
more time to unlock two locks. Do not allow access to
anyone via the intercom system that is a non-resident
or does not have business at the location.
For information, contact Detective Prosser, WLA Detectives: 310-575-8441

RESURGENCE OF MAILBOX THEFTS
There is a resurgence of thefts from mailboxes where the suspect has resorted to breaking into the mailboxes to remove victims' mail. This action usually precedes identity theft.
Please consider these options to protect your identity.
1. Pick up your mail at the post office
2. When you receive unwanted catalogs, call the company
to request being taken off their mailing list
3. Go to ZabaSearch.com and input your name to see what
information is available about you to the public.
You can request to have your information removed.
4. Check into companies that specialize in protecting
your identity, and sign up.
For further information, contact Sergeant David Podesta:
(310) 444-0743 or by email at 32305@lapd.lacity.org

DISAPPEARING MAIL BOXES
You may have read about disappearing mail boxes on the West Side in the Los Angeles Times article March 18. No community input was solicited, and boxes were not thinned according to neighborhoods, but cleared entirely. According to the article, no information is available when patrons ask about their new nearest box.

The two closest blue boxes to me have been removed: Colby at Nebraska, and Missouri at Federal.

Those in Waxman's district whose boxes were removed are writing to their congressman. Maybe we should contact Jane Harman etc. for those disappearing in WLA.

SPCALA SPECIALTY/SPAY/NEUTER CENTER
I would like to introduce myself as the Practice Manager of spcaLA Specialty Spay/Neuter Center located at 5026 W. Jefferson Blvd. in Los Angeles. We are reaching out to local neighborhood councils and community groups in an effort to help local residents comply with L.A.'s new spay/neuter ordinances.  We provide high quality, affordable spay/neuter services and vaccine, deworming and microchip appointments at our facility. We are open Monday-Thursday from 6:30 AM-6:00 PM, with surgeries in the mornings and vaccine appointments in the afternoons.  We are also asking neighborhood groups if they might be able to provide a link to our website on their neighborhood websites.

If I can provide you with additional information or answer any questions you might have, please feel free to contact me via telephone or e-mail.

Respectfully,
Cheryl L. Anglin
