EMAILS-TO-THE-EDITOR

Your comments, observations, opinions, etc. about items in the
West LA News or anything else in and about the neighborhood!

Let us hear from you and share your views!

My name is Daryl Olesinski and I am a representative of the Goethe International Charter School, a new Bi Lingual Charter Elementary School setting to open in fall of '09...

... We are currently looking fore space in the Palms, Mar Vista and West Los Angeles neighborhoods to locate our school in...

This facility needs to be either in a C2, C3, C4, C5, CR, R4 or R5 zone or have an E-1 Occupancy for it to work. Our requirements are simple, either an existing facility that can house our 8-10 class rooms or a facility of around 10,000 sq. ft. that can be remodeled to accommodate those needs...

If you can be of any assistance or know of any leads we may pursue, please do hesitate to let me know.

Thank you,
Daryl Olesinski

 RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
DISTRACTING ELDERLY VICTIMS

Increase in home burglaries in Pacific Palisades, Westwood, and West L.A.... organized groups
of thieves target vulnerable elderly citizens
using trickery or distraction to get access
to residences and remove property.

Suspects, males and females, ages 17 to 50,
Caucasian, Eastern European, Hispanic,
Filipino and "Gypsy."
Some common methods: Posing as Department of
Water & Power employees who need to see the backyard;
Posing as construction workers at a neighboring
house who need to inspect a backyard wall;
Asking to go into the backyard to get their lost cat, etc.
While accommodating the request, accomplices
enter the house to take things.
To report suspicious activity or share
information about these crimes, call the
24-hour toll free Detective Information Desk:
