Celebrating Caribbean American Heritage Month

chillin

USA, Jamaica and London Linkup at Reggae Tuesdays on June 7

Dear Friends,

We finally got back into the PEP of things and went out and about this week.  On Sunday, we checked out the DC Film Fest and have rave reviews for LIFT UP (one of the two films we had the opportunity to see).  Shout outs to Mwiza of Transafrica Forum,
Finiana Joseph of CPN,

and everyone who made DC Film Fest a reality.

We spent Tuesday evening at "Reggae Tuesdays" and it was great to be back among so many wonderful folks who enjoy LIVE reggae music, good food, great company and excellent vibes.  Shout outs to Audrey Walker, Tre  Young, Dawn Marks who celebrated her birthday, Carl Malcolm and the Positive Vibrations Band who rocked the house, Fiona of CVR, DJ Paul Mack, and everyone who were in the place having a great time.  New friendships and collaborations were formed, so that makes us happy!
As we move into the second week of Caribbean American Heritage Month (CAHM), we want you to take the time to do something CARIBBEAN!  Make the time to sit and have a great conversation with someone of Caribbean descent and see if you can LEARN about their culture.  If you like Caribbean food, support a Caribbean restaurant near you.  If you have not taken your annual vacation as yet, make it a Caribbean destination.  I would suggest Jamaica, but that would be biased, right? Hmmm.
Temperatures are rising to the point where even the air conditioners cannot keep you cool enough, so remember to stay hydrated, stay indoors
when outside is seriously unbearable, wear sunscreen and sunshades, and resist the urge to run outdoors when it is extremely hot.
I would love to see some of you in the DMV area out and about this month, so link me if you want to find out where to go and what to do.

Cool vibes,

Rosie Peppy Parke

Now that we have concluded Season 1 of PEP Talk! TV, we are doing re-runs.

You can check out one pepisode in the 13-part Season each week on our Youtube Channel.

Our mailing list subscribers keep changing and we are still relying on YOU to help us get the word out about the show.

The pepisode below is extremely special to us for many reasons:  Uncle Faruq was a dear friend of us who did not live to see the final product; this was our very first pepisode; and it set the standard for what was to follow.

Watch it (again in some instances) and please share with others.
