| GRAY DEFEATS FENTY IN DC MAYORAL ELECTION |

The nation's capital is all set to have a new Mayor after the DC Mayoral election saw a new Mayor being appointed at the office. Fenty lost the city's Democratic primary to District of Columbia Council Chairman Vincent Gray just four years after sweeping into office with unprecedented support. The victory ensures that Gray is going to be the new Mayor of the Washington DC. Gray will face no GOP competition in November and the city is all set to support the Democrats.

 Last week I was in Birthday Heaven and enjoyed every minute of it -- even the parts when I was a little under the weather. Without going too much into it, I got over 500 hits on Facebook from folks wishing me Happy Birthday, very many more on MySpace, and even more on the other social networking sites like Twitter, LinkedIn, etc., etc. That in itself was enough to keep me in good spirits for days. I LOVE this social networking thing, and the internet which connects EVERYONE from everywhere and brings us all together!!!!!
For the last 10 years, I have always spent a huge part of my actual birthday by myself. It started off in the year 2000 with me hiding from all my friends who were bidding to take me out on my special day -- intead of choosing who to hang out with, I decided to just hang out solo and then make appointments and make it a month-long celebration. The first time I did it, it was kind of weird since I was always surrounded by people, but over the years I have cultivated the habit and always look forward to my alone time on my special day...Last Friday, I enjoyed being by myself so much that when it was time to face the rest of the world, I had to do a mental preparation. Just ME, uninterrupted...doing ME, uninterrupted for at least a quarter of a 24-hour day is sheer bliss. The downside of that is that I missed most of the Birthday calls, emails and texts and by the time I came up for air, it was just a tad overwhelming to respond to everyone. Please know that even though this is a "global" message, I am personalizing it to thank YOU for your warm wishes on my very special day. I appreciate YOU and am so thankful for your love, support, camaraderie, friendship, and vibes! I take no blessing, no-one, and nothing for granted and I remain humbled and forever thankful for being able to live to see another birthday.
Naturally, I had a birthday party and it was soooo good for me that parts of it keep replaying in my head making me wear a secret smile, even when other things threaten to break my good vibes. Big ups to Alex and Javia of Flemo TV for covering the event (videos to come later). Very special thanks to Hector Clarke of Mystic Vibes for the super-duper awesome music that was so good and infectious that the neighbors left their party to come to mine (and did not call the Po-po on me). Thanks to Gary of Pimento Grill for the special catering he did for the party -- the food was NICE and bountiful. Thanks to Ms. Bev for the fish from heaven which fed a multitude and then some (doggie bags galore). Extra special thanks with carrot birthday cake icing on it to my big sister, Melrose and my friend-to-the-end, Suzette Salmon for traveling from Toronto and Chicago to come help me celebrate, decorate, organize, and host the event. Buddha, large up yourself for coming from NY and helping me with the cleanup while others slept (classic). For the party people who made it, you dun know -- gratitude galore!
