JAMAICAN DESIGNER, GLENROY MARCH FOR "TASTE JAMAICA"
|
|
In his quest to create catchy and contagious designs that
leave a lasting impression on today's fashion industry, designer Glenroy March
is swiftly becoming one of the world's leading designers. Born with a mind to
design glamorous and elegant pieces for today's trendy fashion industry, his fashion eye is in high demand.
Glenroy March was born in Jamaica in 1983 and is now a
New York City resident. March's fashion sense arose at an early age when he mixed and matched catchy and trendy fashion designs for his friends
and family. In his quest to perfect those designs, he delved right into the fashion industry immediately after completing high school. March began his tenure as
an assistant designer at the leading fashion house of the Caribbean, Uzuri
International, gaining valuable life skills which earned him the "Total Look Award," which he got from being his
country's representative in Toronto, Canada.
Motivated by his award, March decided to launch his
first Haute couture boutique. March furthered his study in the history of costumes at the
American Academy of Dramatic Arts costume department in New York City.
His first official collection was launched Spring of 2003
in Jamaica. Since then he has staged a series of runway shows featuring his yearly collection
and participated in numerous fashion events. March has presented at the Round
Hill Fashion show, Caribbean Fashion Week, the Smirnoff Ice Fashion Show, the Ritz-Carlton
Fashion Gala, and The Mc Cafe Fashion Expo where he received the "Best
Designer" award. March is presently focusing his attention on developing two
apparel brands -- DM by D'Marsh which is a ready-to-wear line, and D'Marsh Couture.

Friends,
Next Tuesday, August 17 will mark the 123rd celebration of the birth of the
Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey. For Garveyites, Pan-Africans, and
conscious black folks, various celebrations are underway for one of Jamaica's national heroes who taught us the importance of self reliance, economic independence and countless other ideals and philosophies. For the last five years, PEP has staged many events in celebration of the life of Marcus Garvey. This year, we are proud to be affiliated with the 53rd Annual International Convention of the Universal Negro Improvement Association - African Communities League (UNIA-ACL) which will take place in Washington DC from August 19-25. If you claim to be serious about the upliftment of black people, please consider attending this event - even for one deggeh deggeh day. By attending, you will get a chance to learn more about the UNIA-ACL, network with many positive individuals from all over the world, and truly get an understanding of the power of the late and great, Marcus Mosiah Garvey.
Garvey
was born on August 17, 1887 and died in 1940. He was a force to be
reckoned with in life and even today, 70 years after his death, he is
celebrated for his many contributions.
