There's only a few short weeks until we kick off the IFEA's 54th Annual Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana this September 21-25th, 2009. Have you made your plans to be there yet?  Don't Delay any longer!  Deadlines are quickly approaching, reservations need to be made, and transportation needs to be booked!  We've got a busy week in store for you as you will see from the Convention Schedule.  Keep reading for a glance at the Top Ten Highlights and Things to Know about this year's Convention!

#1 - CHECK OUT THE NEW ONLINE CONVENTION SCHEDULE

#2 - REGISTER BY WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd AND SAVE!   
 
If you're planning on being at the convention and haven't registered yet, be sure to do so before September 2nd - Our earlybird registration deadline.  After that time, the registration rate goes up by $100 (to the post early bird rate).  So register NOW and SAVE!  Also, while you're at it - be sure to book your hotel accommodations at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown before SEPTEMBER 2nd - as after that date, the hotel rates increase as much as $100 per room night!

#3 - CHECK OUT THE PRE-CONVENTION WORKSHOPS

Not only are we offering two CFEE Core Classes before the convention for those of you who are in the process kkof attaining your CFEE Certification. Monday, Sept 21st -"Sponsorship/Sponsor Service" presented by Bruce Erley, APR, President/CEO of Creative Strategies Group and Tuesday, Sept 22nd - "Marketing/Media Relations" presented by Penny Reeh, Owner, Indigo Resource Group, we also have two highly topical and in-depth Workshops available*.

"The Zero Waste Community Event" - Monday, Sept 21st   Come learn how you can begin working toward a "zero waste" community event. All those attending will be given copies of the new "Zero Waste Community Event Toolkit," designed especially for festivals and events and the municipalities that host them.  The Toolkit identifies and addresses best practices, samples of vendor and waste hauler agreements, sponsorship agreements, communication materials, sample policies and more.

#4 - CELEBRATE WITH FRIENDS - OLD AND NEW AT THE IFEA OPENING RECEPTION

The evening of Tuesday, September 22nd, brings the official start of the convention. Join us for a special evening as

#7 - MAKE PLANS TO VISIT THE IFEA EXPO DURING THE CONVENTION


Nowhere else will you find all your supplier needs - all in the same room!  Instead of taking endless time out of your day to make calls and emails to get bids in for your needs during your festival - why not visit everyone in two days and get all your questions answered at the same time!  Held the last two days of the Convention and unopposed by any other educational sessions, this is the largest trade show in our industry geared specifically to festival and event decision-makers. We're 4 booths away from having a full house of exhibitors - so be sure you take advantage of this excellent opportunity to meet with them all in the same location!

dfestAside from all the excellent education sessions, there's much fun to be had during the IFEA Convention too!  From the Opening Reception on Tuesday, to the dfest/Dixie Flag Event Services Team Hospitality Suite open every evening at 10:30 p.m., Connections Café open daily during the convention for your java and networking needs and the IFEA Foundation Auction Night mentioned above on September 24th.  So as you can see - lots of opportunities for fun at the convention.
