Southeast Regional Library Events STORYTIME SCHEDULE
Storytimes run from November 2nd through December 12th 2009. Pajama Time
Stories for the end the day, for ages 3-5. 30 minutes Mondays at 7 pm Mother Goose Moments Stories for little ones, ages 1-2. 15 minutes Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 9:30 am Toddler Time Stories for Toddlers, ages 2-3. 20 minutes Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 10 & 11 am Pre-School Storytime Stories for pre-kindergarten ages 4-5. 30 minutes Thursdays at 11 am Rhyme Time Saturday stories for ages 2-5. 30 minutes Saturdays at 11 am

Pirates Ahoy! for grades K-5
Wednesday, December 9th at 2:30 pm
Edward the Pirate will talk the talk and walk the plank while sharing stories of these infamous villains and blackguards.

Fall Festival for ages 6-12
Saturday, November 7th at 2:30 pm Join the fun with autumn games, tales and crafts; Bring a canned good to donate to the Garner Area Food Bank. Advance registration is required.

Make and Take Gingerbread Houses
Saturday, December 5th at 2:30 pm
Join us in constructing edible art at the library. You provide the manual labor, the library will provide the graham crackers, icing and cool decorations! Advance registration is required. Call 662-2263.
M&M Book Club for grades 2-5
Thursday, November 19th at 4 pm Get ready for reading, fun, and of course, M&Ms! We'll be reading Love That Dog by Sharon Creech. Call 662-2263 to register.

Anime Club for ages 10-17
Love anime? Come every 2nd Wednesday and enjoy a film followed by a brief discussion. The first meeting is Wednesday, October 14th at 3:30 pm.

Kids Art Wall Is your child a budding artist? Would they like to display their work for the public? We are looking for 3-6 pieces of original art to hang in the Youth Services Area. The medium is limited only to what can be hung on a wall-beyond that be as creative as possible. Children ages 4-12 can apply to display their masterpieces for one month as a featured artist. For more information, contact Sarah Kramer at 662-2263 or email her at sarah.kramer@wakegov.com. Applications for the art wall are now available. Submissions will be displayed in the order they are received. We're looking for March artists now!

Southeast's newest book club discusses a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction. New members are welcome and are encouraged to bring their lunch!
Senior Moments Book Club at the Garner Senior Center Contact: Amy Funderburk (919-662-2258) Amy.Funderburk@co.wake.nc.us Meeting Time: Third Wednesday of each month, 10:45 am at the Senior Center. A wide variety of fiction is read and discussed, but we especially enjoy mysteries and thrillers! Nonfiction may be read periodically.
Southeast Regional Adult Book Club Contact: Brandy Hamilton (919-662-2258) Brandy.Hamilton@co.wake.nc.us Meeting Time: Fourth Tuesday of each month (except December) at 6:30 pm in the programming room. We welcome new members! The club reads a wide variety of fiction selections, including book club favorites, award winners and bestselling fiction. The environment is casual, and members have the opportunity to lead the discussion, if they choose.
Southeast Regional Inspirational Book Club Contact: Carolyn Watkins (919-662-2252) CWatkins@co.wake.nc.us Meeting Time: Third Tuesday of each month at 7 pm in the programming room. This club chooses books from the different genres within the inspirational section and from titles that members would like to read. Copies of the titles for each month are kept behind the circulation desk for participants to pick up.

Be a BackPack Buddy for the Holidays! The Interfaith Food Shuttle's BackPack Buddies program provides backpacks filled with child friendly, nutritious food to school children in need for weekends and holiday breaks. This December the library will be collecting goodies to go in those backpacks, and you can help!
Please bring only individually sized shelf stable items such as:

Please do NOT bring:
- Snacks such as Pop-tarts and cookies
- Spam and Vienna Sausages
- Soft top applesauce, fruit or Jello
- Candy
- Juice pouches
- Sugary cereals
The library will collect all the items and arrange for delivery. Help us help hungry kids this holiday season! | |
