Welcome New Interim Executive Director
The Alzheimer's Association Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter welcomes former Board Chair Robert Karrick to serve as the Interim Executive Director. Robert comes to us with vast experience in Alzheimer's through his role on the board and currently serves as Chair to Prepare Minnesota for Alzheimer's 2020. He recently served as Chief Operating Office and Executive Vice President of Smead Manufacturing Company.
We extend our gratitude and thanks to Mary Birchard for her eight and a half years of service to the Association. During her tenure, the Chapter has become a leader in advocacy, development and innovative programs - especially in early stage services and rural areas of Minnesota and North Dakota. While we lose a strong, passionate leader for the organization, Mary will continue this valuable work through her new role at the Margaret Cargill Foundation.

Path is Found for the Spread of Alzheimer's
An article in a recent issue of the New York Times reports on a study about the development of a new mouse model for how tau pathology progresses in the brain. The researchers have proposed a possible mechanism for how tau pathology progresses in the brains of people with Alzheimer's, but more research is needed to prove their theory.
