Watch ABC's "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" during World Alzheimer's Month
September is World Alzheimer's Month, and the Alzheimer's Association is honoring the everyday heroes who make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer's disease. These are the brave individuals who fight back by raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research.
Some heroes, like Amanda Weiss, have a deeply personal commitment to ending Alzheimer's. Amanda, pictured here with Newt Gingrich, lost her Grandpa Wayne to Alzheimer's in 2005 after a ten-year battle with the disease. Today, Amanda is an Alzheimer's hero who walks in memory of her grandfather, saying, " I volunteer because I can and I want to make a difference...I want to find a cure!" Read Amanda's story.
Who's your Alzheimer's hero? Tell us now at alz.org/WAM.
Other heroes seize the spotlight and use their celebrity to make a difference. From Sept. 19-23, some of our celebrity heroes will be competing on behalf of the Association in ABC's "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." Tune in to see Vivica Fox, Ashley Hebert, Carson Kressley, Anthony Anderson and Susie Essman answer challenging questions for the cause.
