In September, the Alzheimer's Association is observing the inaugural World Alzheimer's Month. Because of the soaring global prevalence and crippling cost of Alzheimer's disease, our previous day of recognition has grown into a month-long effort to raise awareness across the globe.
Today, more than 35 million people are living with Alzheimer's worldwide, costing our global economy $604 billion annually. During World Alzheimer's Month, join the Alzheimer's Association in applauding the everyday heroes fighting to end this fatal disease.
Learn about heroes like Keri Roaten, a caregiver from Corinth, Miss. Keri started caring for her grandmother, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, when she was just 15 years old. Today, Keri is an active Alzheimer's advocate and support group leader. Read Keri's story.
Who's your Alzheimer's hero? Tell us at alz.org/WAM or on Facebook.
