HAPPY HOLIDAYS
FROM ALL OF US
AT THE ReSTORE ! |

Meet Jeff, Our New Warehouse Assistant |
Jeff Labanara is the newest addition to the ReStore's staff. The Connecticut native first experienced Habitat for Humanity his junior year of college, when he participated in Habitat's Collegiate Challenge. He traveled from San Anselm College in New Hampshire to Spring Hill, in northwest Louisiana, to help construct a single family home during a one-week building blitz.
Jeff made his first visit to Portland in March, 2006, while doing research on urban transportation for his senior college thesis. He liked what he saw, moving here shortly after graduation. Before coming to work at the ReStore in November, Jeff spent a year as an AmeriCorp volunteer construction crew leader for the Mt. Hood chapter, and then did a year with the Metro Portland chapter.
Why did he chose to work at the ReStore? "The last year or so, sustainability has been increasingly important in my life," explains Jeff. "It's nice to take part in a movement. The ReStore is really making an impact in the local community, in addition to funding home ownership. Portlanders have a commitment for reuse, as well as a creativity, that I haven't seen elsewhere."
When Jeff isn't at the ReStore, he enjoys outdoor recreation, landscape photography, and watching ice hockey. Welcome to the ReStore, Jeff.

Volunteer Shout Out |
The end of the year flood of donations are starting to come in. We need the help of volunteers like YOU to keep up with the intake by stocking the new inventory neatly and safely throughout the store. This includes both heavy and light weight lifting. Please help us keep our receiving dock and store neat by contacting us soon to volunteer! Both individuals and groups are welcome here. Thank You, Malia Tam Sing-Volunteer Coordinator malia@pdxrestore.org 503.283.6247

Give the Gift of HOME for the Holidays! |
Still haven't finished your Holiday shopping? Starting to get nervous? Not to worry! Give a gift that gives back. Our Gifts That Build make great stocking stuffers, and are a way to jazz up client fruit baskets, thank teachers, or warm up a Secret Santa exchange.
What could be simpler?
- You choose the part of the Habitat house you want to donate in their name.
- We send them a holiday gift card and ornament telling them about your gift, or we can send it to you to pass on.
- Your tax deductible donation helps Habitat buy materials to provide safe, decent, and affordable homes in partnership with families in need of better shelter.
Once you've sent gift cards to everyone on your list please forward this email to your friends to tell them about this cool giving opportunity!
Warmest wishes this holiday season. Sincerely, Steve Messinetti, Executive Director Habitat for Humanity Portland Metro/East |
