Thanks to everyone for the terrific response to our Direct Mailing for help with the forklift. So far we have raised over $3000 toward our goal of $5000 and still have some donations coming in. Norlift has graciously delivered the forklift even though we still owe some on it, so we have been putting it to great use already. If this is all new to you and you'd like to find out more please send me an email at jconnell@pdxrestore.org and I'll send you some more information.
An idea we have for raising the rest is to raffle off a wonderful trailer that we received last fall as a donation. This is a great rig that was custom built by a metal shop. It's an open tow behind about 5' by 4' and it's rugged and beautiful. I will send an announcement as soon as we work out the details on how to raffle it.
The store has been busy this last month; which is terrific since things usually drop off in July and August. This year nothing has dropped off and we are still going strong from the spring. There are lots of great donations coming in; more furniture, lots of flooring, and of course everything else as well. And it looks like we may get even busier soon since we have some great press out this month. KATV aired a spot this morning on their AM Northwest program, and the Oregonian will be coming out this next week or two with an article about us in their Homes and Garden section.
A special thanks must go out to one of our new volunteers; Robin, who has been showing up twice a week and helping in the office. She joins our other great office volunteers; Lynn, Peter, and Anna in helping us to keep this place running behind the scenes. We could use more help with answering the phones, so if you'd like to be involved but aren't interested in working out in the store please contact Shane at shane@pdxrestore.org.
Thanks again to all of our volunteers and supporters. You all are what make this place tick.
