Either way thanks for your support in the past, and we hope we see you in the store again soon!
Hot New Items

Our flooring has been flying out the door.  But we still have lots of solid prefinished hardwood as well as laminates.  All are new product and in complete boxes.  Prices vary.

This terrific vintage bedroom set just came in a few days ago.  We have priced it low so it doesn't sit here and get damaged.  It is in excellent shape and comes with a headboard, two dressers, and an amazing lamp.  All for just $400.  A retail shop on the east side would easily charge $600 to $800 for this set.

Paint and Chemical Sale

All paints and chemicals [except select products like our Metro paints and a few other new sets] are just $1 or less.

This sale will end at the beginning of August, so come on in now!

News from the Portland Metro Area ReStore

Thanks to everyone for the terrific response to our Direct Mailing for help with the forklift.  So far we have raised over $3000 toward our goal of $5000 and still have some donations coming in.  Norlift has graciously delivered the forklift even though we still owe some on it, so we have been putting it to great use already.  If this is all new to you and you'd like to find out more please send me an email at jconnell@pdxrestore.org and I'll send you some more information.

An idea we have for raising the rest is to raffle off a wonderful trailer that we received last fall as a donation.  This is a great rig that was custom built by a metal shop.  It's an open tow behind about 5' by 4' and it's rugged and beautiful.  I will send an announcement as soon as we work out the details on how to raffle it.

The store has been busy this last month; which is terrific since things usually drop off in July and August.  This year nothing has dropped off and we are still going strong from the spring.  There are lots of great donations coming in; more furniture, lots of flooring, and of course everything else as well.  And it looks like we may get even busier soon since we have some great press out this month.  KATV aired a spot this morning on their AM Northwest program, and the Oregonian will be coming out this next week or two with an article about us in their Homes and Garden section.

A special thanks must go out to one of our new volunteers; Robin, who has been showing up twice a week and helping in the office.  She joins our other great office volunteers; Lynn, Peter, and Anna in helping us to keep this place running behind the scenes.  We could use more help with answering the phones, so if you'd like to be involved but aren't interested in working out in the store please contact Shane at shane@pdxrestore.org.

Thanks again to all of our volunteers and supporters.  You all are what make this place tick.

Volunteer Update
We need more help in the store!  Specifically we need regular volunteers to work out on the store floor.  We have been getting more folks that come in once a week for a few hours on a regular basis and we find that these volunteers are making a terrific difference in the level of customer service we are able to offer; as well as helping our staff to not burn out.  We need more!  We could easily triple our regular volunteers and still have work left undone, so please consider getting involved, its a great way to be involved in Habitat, meet the families who are working for their Habitat Homes, and make a difference in your community.

We also need a truck driver for Fridays and truck assistance for just about all days.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities to volunteer with the Habit Restore please contact Shane at 503-283-6247 (ext 3) or shane@pdxrestore.org

Jane!  Our fabulous Donation Coordinator
JaneThe Portland ReStore is very fortunate to have Jane on staff.  She is totally committed to the mission of HFH, and to being part of it.  She has been Donations Coordinator about a year and a half.

A native of Bronxville, New York, Jane learned about Habitat for Humanity firsthand while still in high school. A school trip to Tennessee to work on a home-building project made a big impression on her.   Years later, after living all over the U.S. and in Switzerland, she moved to Portland specifically to get involved with Habitat. She spent eight months as a volunteer, working on-site, in the warehouse and in the office, before getting hired for her current position.

Her job as Donations Coordinator is full-time, and then some.  She handles donation phone calls and schedules truck pickups.  When not working, she enjoys playing guitar and piano, mostly making up her own stuff.  If you have building materials or appliances to donate, please give Jane a call.

KATV Channel 2
Our thanks go out to KATV for including us on a spot in their AM Northwest program this morning.  I missed the show but I heard it looked pretty good.  I do know we had quite a few more phone calls and folks stopping in to look around.

So thank you to Mike, Tami, Helen, Caroline and Robert over at K2.
