Help us expand our newsletter

Now that we have an email newsletter with all the bells and whistles, we're able to track how many people open it, forward it, and click on our links. This is not only great fun to look at, but it helps to know what interests folks and how we're doing with it all.  For example we know that about 42% of those we send this to open it, which by industry standards is terrific. We also know that a lot of people are checking out Classique Floors and Metro Paint, which is great for them.

We're finding that items we post in this newsletter sell fast, and that our sales and donations are increasing all the time. Now our challenge is to increase our mailing list. So here's a great way to show your support for us: Please pass this newsletter on to others! If you're part of the HFH network, pass it on to staff and volunteers. If you're part of another similar organization, please pass it on to your list and encourage them to join. They'll have an opportunity to sign up if they're interested, and of course to unsubscribe any time.

This is a great way to support the ReStore. So pass on the word! Use the "forward" feature of in your email or browser, or click on the "forward email" link at the bottom of the newsletter.

News from the Portland Metro Area ReStore
This past couple of weeks Portland HFH has had a few wall raising and two home dedications for Habitat Families that have helped us here in the ReStore.  As many of you know Habitat families are required to put in 500 hours of "sweat equity" working for thier home.  Many families choose to do at least some of their hours here at the ReStore.

On May 11th Portland HFH handed over the keys to the Amei and Abdalla families homes!  Seven children will be housed in this duplex.  It was wonderful to see them all running about their new yard and home.  It was wonderful too, to know that the work we do here at the ReStore helped to build those homes; and that each of those families worked side by side with us here at the ReStore to make it all happen.

On April 27th we raised the first walls for Carrie Christian and her son Daniel, the Hoang family, and the Wasongollo family.  All three of these families are familiar faces to us here at the ReStore.  It was great to see the first walls of their new homes rise up.  Before long they will see the roof go on, the carpet down, and will have the keys to their new home; joining the more than 200 Habitat homeowner families here in Portland.

As Director of the ReStore I try to attend as many of these dedications and wallraisings as I can.  They are powerful reminders of why we do what we do here.  We help people change their lives, and the lives of their children, by helping them to own a decent affordable home.  Our goal is to increase the work we do here, selling more goods, helping more families.  Thanks for your help in this, and for your continued support.
