Churches to get free copy of 'Let the Children Come'By John Longhurst of Mennonite Publishing Network Mennonite Church USA congregations will get a free copy of Let the Children Come: Preparing Faith Communities to End Child Abuse and Neglect, thanks to a generous gift from an anonymous donor. The donor provided the funds because of an experience of abuse that happened in a church a number of years ago. "I can't write a book on this topic," he says. "But I can help
distribute this book to other churches so they can prevent what happened

Poll question on Islamic Center receives 533 responsesBy Anna Groff The poll question on The Mennonite's website received 533 responses--the second highest number for polls in 2010. The question asked, "Regarding the building plans of the proposed Islamic center in New York City" with three possible answers: I support them - 394 votes I oppose them - 102 votes I'm not sure - 37 votes The most votes in 2010 were received to the question, "Should Mennonite schools play the national anthem before sporting events?" with 634 votes. Eighty percent voted "no" to playing the national anthem. November is Native American Awareness Month; in preparation we ask the question, "I personally know a Native American Mennonite: yes, no or I'm not sure."
