Fall/Winter 2010
Greetings!

During this holiday season our thoughts turn gratefully to those who have made our progress possible. There is no time more fitting to say thank you. We wish you a wonderful holiday season.

Happy Holidays!
Impacting the Financial Education of our Youth
Teaching financial literacy skills to students is critical; this investment can create a better economic environment for our communities and the skills allow students to better compete in the 21st century marketplace. The Economics Center has been working with K-12 schools on this goal for over 33 years.

Our experience has taught us that it takes more than a good teacher and a good curriculum. It takes a good teacher that knows the content and how to effectively convey these important concepts to the students in a relevant and engaging way. The Economics Center excels at training educators to be most effective in teaching economics and financial education and providing engaging hands-on lessons to support curriculum.

State Farm on board to Support Financial Education

State Farm Insurance recently made an investment in the implementation of the Financial Education Initiative in the Mt. Healthy School District. This grant will directly benefit approximately two-hundred and fifty Mt. Healthy High School students and four to six Mt. Healthy High School educators.

"Mt. Healthy has enjoyed some great successes around financial education with very limited resources.  This grant will allow the Economics Center to help take them to even greater heights by integrating financial education content across their K-12 classes."

-John Morris, Education Director of the Center

The overall goal of the Financial Education Initiative in the Mt. Healthy School District is to ensure that students have the economic understanding and financial skills they will need as workers, consumers, savers, investors, and citizens.
