2,000 High School Students learn personal finance through the Economics Center's Financial Education Initiative (FEI)
FEI has been offering teachers professional development and has developed a model high school financial education course.

To date, hundreds of teachers have been trained and introduced to new teaching materials in topics such as budgeting, investing, risk and insurance.

"I really enjoyed the Economics Center's financial education session the past two days. I cannot wait to go through all the great materials."

-Jennifer Wiegele, St. Xavier High School

More exciting FEI News!
  • Students who took the FEI model course at Reading High School increased their score on a basic financial literacy test from an average of 50% to 80%.
  • The University of Cincinnati is now offering two college credits to high school students that enroll in this rigorous course. This year, approximately 2,000 students will be enrolled in the FEI model course.  Reading, Mason and Madeira are districts which have made this course mandatory for all students.
Contact John Morris at 513.556.5198 or email john.morris@uc.edu to find out what your school district is doing to meet the new high school financial education graduation requirements.

Community Support Makes an Impact on K-12 Education

The Center has worked hard to get local and national organizations on board to help the Center carry out its mission to build a vibrant community by inspiring students through economic and financial education. Recently, there have been three major contributions from the Charles H. Dater Foundation, Citigroup Credit Services and US Bank. US Bank has been a major contributor for 10 years.
