Repairs & Restoration

Wallace Classic 4 Pipes

Bagpipes require a lot of maintenance, especially Blackwood. They need to be oiled and cleaned, have the bags changed, any loose pieces refitted. In some climates, cracks can form in the wood. Pipes that have sat in storage for years unplayed will require some work to get them back in playing condition. Some of these things can be done on your own and some may require a more experienced hand.  Oiling and cleaning can be done with bore oil and brushes. For bag installations, many just pop the stocks in and out with the use of grommets, where others require more work to tie in.  As for cracks, depending on the size and location, they may just need to be glued or they may require sleeving or replacement. Often, a manufacturer or reputable dealer will be able to do these for you.

Sometimes people inherit pipes without knowing where they came from, what make they are, what year they were made, etc. This information can be very important if you plan to travel with the pipes, get them insured or resell them.  The best idea is to take them to someone who can valuate and authenticate the pipes for you.  A detailed description, photographs, history of the pipes, etc. is included.

Kinnaird Bagpipes offers all of these bagpipe repairs and services. You can call or email for quotes.

Scottish Humor

A Scotsman, an Englishman and an Australian were in a bar and had just started on a new round when a fly landed in each glass of beer.
The Englishman took his out on the blade of a Swiss Army Knife.
The Australian blew his away in a cloud of froth.
The Scotsman lifted his up carefully by the wings and held it above his glass. "Go on, spit it oot, ye wee devil," he growled.

SFU Affirmation CDSFU Affirmation CD

-"Great sound from a great band. This is their concert before the Worlds in Glasgow, which they won that year."

-"Canadian team! This CD is awesome. It will not be sound or noise, just beautiful music to admire! It's fairly recent, so the technology behind the sound is in fine mode for quality material."

-"This whole series of recordings live at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall before the annual World Pipe Band Championships is wonderful. They capture the energy and excitement of a live performance with excellent recording qualities that approach studio conditions better than the field competitions. This particular concert from Burnaby's favorite campus pipe band is a prime example of the band at its best under Jack and Terry Lee. Together, they exemplify the motto "Nous Sommes Prts".
