Greetings!
June is Safety Month, and safety belts are a foundation of both on and off the job safety.  It's clear that safety belts save lives in crashes.  To be effective though, they must be worn.  Vehicle occupants should  buckle up every trip, every time for safety!.  Does your group need a reminder?  Try a parking lot sign in your parking lot.

Signs are free and can be ordered from Click It--Don't Risk It.

The Omaha World Herald reported on Governor Heineman's reminder to drive safely on May 25, before the Memorial Day weekend.  Governor Heineman feels that safety belt education is very important in ensuring that traffic fatalities dues to the lack of a safety belt are eliminated.

Governor Heineman stresses seatbelt education

Click it or Ticket runs from May 23 to June 5 this year.  Since Nebraska is a state with secondary enforcement, education is even more important. Thanks for all you do to ensure safety belt usage.

Click It--Don't Risk It  attended Driver's Ed in Homer, NE last week.

Did you know that teenage drivers ages 16-19  account for just 6.3% of the licensed drivers in Nebraska, but they account for 22% of the crashes?  These are just a few of the interesting facts available on the website for the Nebraska Office for Highway Safety.

Safety belts are especially important for teens for that reason, and they're important for all of us because you never know who you might be driving beside--or what they're doing besides driving.
