Greetings!
There are lots of health fairs in the spring. Click It has participated in many of them, including one at Designer Blinds on south 76th Circle.
Don't forget to include a safety belt booth in your wellness events this year. The most common cause of death for younger age groups in Nebraska are related to driving incidents. All of us know someone who has been in a crash, and all of us know someone who does not consistently buckle up. It truly doesn't matter if you exercise correctly or otherwise if you are killed in a crash.
If your health fair has a kid's focus, or if youngsters will be in attendance, check to see if Click It can send their egg ramp to you! We recently sent the ramp to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Kids love to watch the eggs break, and it helps them understand the physical reality of unbelted crashes.
Take action! Buckling up is a simple act that only takes a second, and all of us can participate in reminding Nebraskans and everyone to take that second and buckle up.

The McCook Daily Gazette promotes safety belts!
|
|
In March, the McCook Daily Gazette printed an article promoting safety belts for law enforcement. The paper cited statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that "at least 64 officers
died in car crashes between 2004 and 2008 while they were not wearing
seatbelts". The Gazette also noted that the Houston Chronicle reported this accounted for about 40% of officers killed during that time.

While by law, Law Enforcement Officers don't have
to wear their seat belts in their law enforcement vehicles, the laws of physics strongly reinforce the need. Until technology or another solution comes along, "we urge all of us, law enforcement officers and civilians alike, to take
the time to buckle up, each and every time we drive." How many citizens or officers involved in crashes do
not die but experience catastrophic career-ending injuries?
Since the need to buckle up is true everywhere, thanks to the McCook Gazette and to all of you for getting that word out!

Have you participated in the Honor Roll lately?
|
|
The Douglas County Sheriff's office recently did 2 observations, and absolutely everyone was belted. OUTSTANDING!!

Click It also recently mailed a certificate to Marian High School, who achieved Honor Roll status! Marian was challenged by both the large numbers of students they observed, and by the age of their population. Statistics tell us that teenagers are frequently likely to not buckle up.
