Greetings!
The weather has not been kind to Nebraska lately, and with bad weather comes bad roads. Unfortunately, the alarm in most people's heads that generates the buckling of safety belts on bad roads has been missing in too many crashes so far in 2010. Not using a safety belt is a bad reason to lose a life. We all need to keep working to make sure that all Nebraskans are buckled all of the time! It's not just snowy roads that cause crashes--there are many reasons for crashes to happen, from other kinds of road conditions to animals to simple human error. Now if only potholes were addressed as easily as simply clicking on a safety belt! |
Holy Name Elementary School

Everything I know I learned in Kindergarten. Possibly not everything... but grade school is a great time to reinforce the safety belt message!
Click It recently broke a few eggs at Holy Name Elementary School in Omaha. Both the Elementary School kids and their high school-aged group escorts enjoyed watching the egg crash display at the Holy Name wellness festival. The kids were impressive--did you learn the equation to figure out force when you were in 8th grade? Hint: It's speed times weight, so if you weigh 100 pounds and you are traveling at 30 miles per hour, your force at impact will be 3000 pounds.
Have you worked with your local elementary school? Does your school have any events where you could host a safety belt booth? Our egg ramp display is available for borrowing, or make arrangements for Click It to come to your event!

League of Risk Management

The League of Risk Management held their winter conference last week in Lincoln. This conference featured everything that makes a community a good place to live. There were vendors who design swimming pools, vendors who offer retirement planning for municipal employees, and even a booth about how a community can be added to the Click It Honor Roll. As you know, due to the outstanding buckling numbers being recorded in Nebraska--currently around 85%--the Click It Honor Roll is eliminating the standard level, and both observations must be at 90%! That's right--new Honor Roll members are jumping right in at the GOLD level! Any group can achieve this wonderful honor--from Girl Scout Troops to businesses to church groups to whole communities. 3 Nebraska communities have already achieved Honor Roll status; Gretna, LaVista, and Pilger. Those names were prominently featured on the Click It display at the conference! Encourage your community to go for Honor Roll gold! read more about the League of Risk Management
