Man killed in central Nebraska collision

A 74-year-old man has died in a crash involving two pickups at a rural south-central Nebraska intersection.
Hall
County Chief Deputy Sheriff Chris Rea says the collision happened
around 7:55 a.m. Monday about a mile west of the former Cornhusker Army
Ammunition Plant.
Rea says the 74-year-old man was driving west
on a county road when his pickup collided with one driven by a
17-year-old boy. Authorities have not released the names of either
driver in the crash.
Rea says the older man was not wearing a
seat belt. The 17-year-old and a 14-year-old passenger in his truck
were wearing seat belts and suffered only minor injuries."
It's unknown whether a safety belt would have saved this man's life, or whether safety belts did save the young people's lives. However, safety belts have been shown to eliminate serious injuries and fatalities by 45 to 50%.

MUD is honored for 100% safety belt use!
|
|
Mud employees always wear their safety belts! You will never see a MUD truck with a unbuckled driver. Pete Neddo accepted the certificate from the Governor Dave Heineman on behalf of MUD. Pete made the point before the proclamation ceremony that an MUD truck had been in a head-on crash a few years ago. Because the driver was belted, he had some shoulder soreness, but walked away from a serious crash. While this crash is history, the undamaged windshield shows that a safety belt policy might have a huge impact. Not only did this driver walk away, but MUD was spared both the trauma and the expense of an injury or a death from a driver hitting the windshield in this crash. Does your company have a safety belt policy? Are you sure that no employee will miss days of work due to not being belted in a crash? Would your company show 100% belted in an honor roll check? Apply for Honor Roll recognition!Simply check to see if people coming into your parking lot are belted. Do it twice at least 30 days apart, and if your percentage is more than 80% both times, you can be on the Honor Roll too! Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman's proclamations

Calling all PROM pictures!
|
|
Did you go to Prom when you were in High School?
How about another formal dance?
Did you look rather gorgeous?
We have personally looked back at some high school pictures, and realized that, wow, styles have maybe changed, as have we. However, while that same phenomenon will happen to our current teenagers, it's very important that they stay safe on prom night. The goal is to live to tell the tale.
Help Click It support that effort! Help keep them alive with our Prom theme: PROMise to look back and laugh
We want our teens to wear their belts, stay alive, and be able to look back to critique those photos. We're looking for outdated prom pictures that we can print on our Prom poster. We know you have some fetching photos in your collection that will attract teenagers' attention.
Was your prom in the 70's? 80's? Whenever it was, help us by sharing your beautiful prom photos, and encouraging our teens to stay alive long enough to look back and laugh at themselves.
