Greetings!
Another crash involving teenagers hit the news in Omaha. This crash put 3 teenagers in the hospital with serious injuries. An interesting observation by the news reporter was: "Investigators say it didn't appear any of the teenagers were wearing their seatbelts. Police say if they had been, they would likely have all walked away without injuries."
Don't you wish that something as simple as wearing a safety belt could help protect you from all of life's disasters? Seems like a no-brainer--buckle up, every trip, every time.

The Department of Defense Requires Safety Belts--How about your business? |
|
At a recent health fair in Bellevue, we were reminded that the military takes a strict approach to requiring the use of safety belts. The conversation at the Click It table is always centered around this question, "Do you wear your safety belt?" In Bellevue, where Offutt Air Force base is located, many responses included a reference to the military, as in "Of course, the military requires it, and you just get in the habit and always wear it no matter what you're doing."
The Department of Defense Instructions 6055.4 states-- "E3.12.1.1 All Personnel, as listed in paragraph 2.2 of this Instruction, operating or riding in motor vehicles shall wear safety belts."
It's a logical step for any business with company vehicles to require the use of safety belts in those company vehicles. Managers at businesses that have made this step comment that staff not only tend to extend the use of belts to their personal time, but to their families as well. Requiring belt use in company vehicles is an excellent way to improve a company's image to other drivers, and to increase employee safety on the job. And increasing safety on the job can also reduce expenses.
Does your business have a policy requiring belt use in all company vehicles?
