Greetings!
The Come Home Safe project has officially ended with the awarding of the two remaining incentive awards. Mead High School won first prize of $1000 for their participation in Come Home Safe, and Burwell High School and Maywood High School each won $500. All of the schools participated in Come Home Safe by doing safety belt observations and promoting the use of safety belts by their students. We at Click It hope to sponsor this activity again next year during Homecoming, and hope that this year's activities established some good buckling habits in our high school students across Nebraska.
Who wants them to come home safe?
We all do!

Burwell High School recieves $500! |
|
Burwell High School's Student Council was in charge of the Come Home Safe project this fall at Burwell High School. They started with a 24% buckled rate at their first belt observation, and had a healthy increase to 46%. While their numbers were not the best of any that were received from different places in the state, they achieved a significant increase and hopefully started a lifelong wellness habit for many students.
Burwell High School won a runner-up award in our incentive drawing for participants in our Come Home Safe Project. Their name was drawn from all of the participants in the Come Home Safe project to receive $500. Chuck Cone, the Public Health Director and the new mayor of Burwell, as well as a longtime member of the Nebraska Coalition to Save Lives Through Safety Belt Usage, presented a check from the Come Safe Project to two members of the Burwell Student Council. Left to right is Lexi Eddy and Lydia Stutzman who are both seniors and Student Council representatives. |

The Maywood Public School Safety Committee sponsored the Come Home Safe project at Maywood High School. In 2 observational checks of whether students were wearing safety belts, Maywood's numbers started at 57% and increased to 71%.
