Greetings!

The time to yell at them is now!

I went to a holiday brunch on Sunday where I explained Click It--Don't Risk It! to some people I haven't seen in a long time.  Someone responded with a story of yelling at a corpse at a funeral.  A friend of hers died in a crash because she wasn't belted.

I don't imagine a lecture at that point did a lot of good, so consider how you can get the word out now.  Buckle up, every trip--every time and require anyone else in your car to buckle up as well.  What else can you do to get the word out?  You never know when a crash is going to happen.

Happy Holidays to all of you from us at Click It--Don't Risk It!

Schering Plough Earns Gold Honor Roll Again!

Nebraska campuses of Schering Plough--one in Omaha and one in Elkhorn--are populated with conscientious bucklers. Both campuses renewed their gold standing on the Safety Belt Honor Roll for 2008.
Schering Plough Honor Roll
The first unannounced  check occurred in July of 2008.  They distributed small ziplock bags of goodies that promoted their Safety Day Fair which took place the same day.  The second unannounced check took place in October of 2008.  Both checks at both campuses showed buckling rates of over 90%.  Way to go, Schering Plough!

Can your company claim 90% buckling rates?  How about your school or even your town?  Are your colleagues or neighbors taking needless risks?  Buckling your safety belt is a small step that can have big consequences.

Click It has received multiple emails in the last weeks about crash survivors who were saved by their safety belts.  Here are a couple:

"My sister's daughter was in a bad accident on Saturday afternoon but is doing ok.  She was wearing her seat belt and had her cruise set--she fell asleep, went into the ditch, hit an approach, flew 72 feet in the air, front end hit, flipped end for end xamount times ended up on its roof....  Amazingly there were no broken bones or bad cuts"

Jake and Zach"Jacob and Zach were in a single cab Chevy Truck and rolled because of a ridge of gravel on a gravel road.
Because of the child infant seat and Jake's seat belt they will both be okay.  Zach was okay right away except for 2 scratches on his one hand.  Jake has a cracked vertebra in his lower back that will heal with about 10 weeks of wearing a brace."

"There was a rollover accident because of ice west of town and the driver was ejected through the sunroof.  He's in stable condition, but the kids all said, "SEE!" "

Let's see if the Internet works to increase safety belt usage!  Pass this newsletter on to everyone you know and invite them to join the Nebraska Coalition to Save Lives through Safety Belt Usage.  Let's increase our membership; let's increase the number of people working on this issue, and let's get safety belt usage up to 100% in Nebraska in 2009!
