Greetings!
"I am so blessed to have a life right now."
Sometimes teenagers totally get it. (Not always, but that's another story.)
This time, 3 teens lived through a crash, and credit their safety belts for making that happen.
While we never know if our efforts as the Nebraska Coalition to Save Lives Through Safety Belt Usage determine whether safety belts were used in any individual crash, it's great to hear that someone has the message and that safety belts made a difference! Thanks to each of you for all you do to promote the use of safety belts.

Come Home Safe! |
|
Schools have been trying all kinds of things to spread the word about safety belts during this Come Home Safe campaign. The bookcovers and posters have been popular, and many schools have gotten students involved with promoting safety belts. Schools have done student announcements, articles in the school newsletter, signs, marquee messages and rollover demonstrations by the Highway Patrol. Some schools have also used the crashed car display from the State Patrol. We've also heard about student testamonials from students who have personal experience with being "saved by the belt".
It's interesting to note that the truism about learning the hard way--people who have been in crashes tend to begin wearing their belts--also applies to schools. Schools who have been in the news because they have lost a student in a crash with no belt tend to report higher percentages of safety belt use. This is a tough way to learn and one everyone should avoid--so get involved! Don't let your local high school be one that loses a student due to the lack of a safety belt!

Congratulations to Principal Financial Group and Lincoln Financial Group |

Sometimes companies choose to complete Honor Roll observations and achieve Honor Roll level of safety belt use, but aren't able to attend the actual proclamation.
The message to their employees remains the same--they're valued, both in terms of the skills they bring to their jobs, and their actual lives!
October brought 2 companies that chose to complete the steps for Honor Roll achievement but not attend the proclamation event. Both of these companies are Financial Groups and both know that good insurance and financial planning are invaluable. But planning and insurance can't compete with safety belts for avoiding injury, expense, hassle and possibly even death in the event of a crash!
Contratulations to Principal Financial Group, and Lincoln Financial Group. Making sure that a company doesn't lose employee time because of injuries due to a crash saves that company time and money! Try doing an Honor Roll observation at your company!
