Greetings!

Peer pressure can be overwhelming. Our dog is trained to never jump in our small backyard pond, but if she has dog friends visiting, sometimes they forget and the excitement is too much, and my plants get more of a bath than they really needed.

Let's work to establish peer norms that reinforce the use of safety belts.  It starts with each of us!  Don't let guests, adults or kids alike, ride in your car unbuckled.  Spread the word!

Let's make this the summer that no one in Nebraska was killed because they weren't wearing a safety belt!

Are the kids in your local high school buckling up? Are you positive that each of them will come home safe from wherever they go?

Can your local high school use an extra $1000?

Homecoming is a fall high school tradition.  Click It is offering an opportunity for high schools to win big if they complete 2 safety belt checks during the fall semester.  If both of those checks reveal 80% or higher safety belt use among drivers and passengers arriving at the school or event during the check, that school will not only be entered in the drawing to win $1000, but they will also be placed on the Nebraska Honor Roll.

Make sure your local high school knows about this opportunity and offer to help with the seatbelt checks.  Help Nebraska teenagers come home safe by remembering to always buckle up, every trip, every time.

Action Report Opportunities

The first quarter action report award went unclaimed!  Tender and delicious Omaha steaks were not awarded due to lack of reporting on the Action Award front!  omaha steaks meat picture

Nominations are easier than ever with our new website--self-nominations can be done online with no printing, copying, or faxing required.

Don't be modest! Nebraska's buckled percentage is increasing all the time, and some of the credit for that goes to you, the Safety Belt Coalition members.  Seatbelt checks and campaigns are going on all over the state, so share what you're doing and be sure to fill out that Action Report Form!

The "Click It Chronicle," our Click It Campaign e-letter, published whenever there is news, is available to all those interested in increasing safety belt usage.  Please share this information freely. Take the information, copy to friends, businesses and organizations with the same concerns.  Using the information provided will help reduce the needless fatalities and injuries on our highways and the associated costs.
